What is tariff?
The tariff is the methods of charging a consumer for
consuming electric power.
Different charges for domestic consumer
• Fixed charges
• Energy charges
• Fuel charges
• ED charges
The tariff does not include Fuel Power Purchase Price Adjustment
(FPPPA) of Rs 0.5/unit and Electricity Duty of 15%.
Be careful that if the actual demand exceeds the sanctioned
demand, then the fixed charge/kW will increase depending on the
state, and sometimes the excess energy bill is painful when it is
with arrears of 1-2 years.
Up to and including 2 kW Rs. 15/- per month
Above 2 to 4 kW Rs. 25/- per month
Above 4 to 6 kW Rs. 45/- per month
Above 6 kW Rs. 70/- per month
Energy charges
• 0 - 50 units = 305 paisa / unit = 3.05 * 50 = 152.5 Rs.
• 51-100 units = 350 paisa / unit = 3.50 * 50 = 175 Rs.
• 101 -250 units = 415 paisa / unit = 4.15 * 150 = 622.5 Rs.
________________________________________________
• So, Total energy charges = 152.5 + 175 + 622.5
= 950 Rs.
First 50 units 305 Paise per Unit
Next 50 Units 350 Paise per Unit
Next 150 Units 415 Paise per Unit
Above 250 Units 520 Paise per Unit
Fuel Charges and Electricity Duty
charge
• Fuel charges @ 200 paisa = 250 * 2 = 500 Rs.
• Electricity Duty charge @ 15 paisa
= (Fixed charge + Energy charge + fuel charge) * 0.15
= ( 30 + 950 + 500 ) * 0.15
= 222 Rs.
Total Amount Due = Fixed Charge + Energy charge + Fuel charge +
Electricity Duty charge
= 30 + 950 + 500 + 222
= 1702 Rs.
