CADISON® MATPIPE is a central pipe class and catalogue management system that allows users to manage pipe classes and manufacturer catalogues for industrial plant planning projects. It helps standardize component selection and allows all project parties to access pipe class and catalogue data. CADISON® combines engineering workflows and data in one system, significantly accelerating planning processes by ensuring everyone works from the same current data.
The CADISON® P&ID Designer plays a decisive role in design, construction, commissioning and maintenance and has an enormous effect on the complete lifecycle of a plant. In this case the preliminary project engineering will be integrated with Basic and Detail Engineering and 2D layout planning. Apart from the P&I diagrams the P&ID Designer even creates block flow charts and process flow diagrams (PFD).
The Module for Project Manager and Repair & Maintenance Staff
CADISON® Project Navigator is the module for viewing of project data within the corporate network. Navigator has been designed for staff members normally not involved in the active planning of a plant but afterwards responsible for operation and maintenance of the plant (i.e. mere data consumers).
Since in a CADISON® project all logic and functional interrelations are displayed, it is possible, e.g. in case a pump fails operation, to make visible all plant components affected by this failure. In case problems occur, all components, safety zones, pipe runs, hazardous areas etc. that might be affected are recognized and/or displayed.
The Module for 3D Layout and Piping Planning
Installation and pipeline planning in the 3D model are in the competence of the 3D Designer. Normally this module is used for access to data from Basic Engineering or P&ID. Efficient assistants are available for installation planning: For instance, isometrics can be automatically generated from the planned pipeline systems.
Start with an empty sheet of paper, access an existing 3D Design model - even an AutoCAD model - or access data from Basic Engineering or P&ID! You can simply take your data - either graphic data or data from plant structure – through Drag & Drop and insert them in your 3D design environment for further processing as required.
CADISON® Project Engineer is your tool for plant design, Engineering calculations and detailing of your plant by adding all required components (objects) to the project while taking them from the catalogue. Simple Drag & Drop operations are sufficient with completely text based operations without the obligation to have a graphical environment. This approach is called "Conceptual Engineering". The target of CADISON® Project Engineer is to provide the user with data for calculation without large efforts and already at a very early time.
Preparation of planning documents for instrumentation, power plants and control but also installation and process measuring and control technology are in the competence of the electric design engineer. The common data base permits at any time the access to information about all trades involved in the project such that planning of electrical engineering can be combined with planning of process engineering.

Computer Aided Process Planning Using Neutral File Step for Rotational PartsRSIS International
Present investigation is on process planning using neutral file with format STEP for rotational parts with use of computer. CAE systems involved in every stage of product life cycle mainly uses the product data produced by the CAD systems and integrated manufacturing data produced by CAPP and CAM systems. As the degree of automation and CAD/CAM integration increases, the inclusion of high level information with the product data and its seamless flow in CAD-CAM-CNC chain becomes a necessity. The objective of this work is to develop a Computer Aided Process Planning system for rotational parts using ISO 10303 standard STEP AP224 data exchange file, enabling the inclusion of high level information about the product besides geometry. The developed system aims to incorporate the small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises into the e-manufacturing chain by adopting the NC-code based CNC machine tools without any modification of the controllers.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

2. Normally the planning of industrial plants is based on a number of
key documents. Determination of pipe classes is an important com-
ponent of Basic Engineering. The Basic Engineering defines the
technical requirements with regard to fluid and pipe classes to be
selected according to operating conditions so that the great variety
of available pipeline components is limited and binding standards
are established for Detail Engineering. Of course, costs are an
important aspect as well since they will have a decisive influence
later in the course of operation and stock-keeping.
One of the key documents is the customer’s approval of pipe clas-
ses in the project.
CADISON®
MATPIPE is the central pipe class and catalogue
management system for use of the integral plant planning opera-
tion. Among others, the system ensures that your marking system introduced once before will be maintained in all
planning documents.
MATPIPE with its pipe classes may cover all phases of a project. Not only the basic but also the standard and pro-
ject pipe classes are managed – all three classes are managed side by side.
CADISON®
MATPIPE supplies a number of pipe classes and manufacturer catalogues; others may be imported fully
or partially via an easy to operate interface.
Specification without fully CAD Application
This module can be used as stand-alone and also concurrently. CAD Know-how is not required for component spe-
cification since MATPIPE provides its own design tool for specification and parameterization of objects. You may
create simple 3D elements (e.g. a simple valve) or even complex structures (e.g. complete separators) as parame-
tric descriptions. Apart from the 3D elements, even 2D symbolisms may be created for schematic diagrams or elec-
trical equipment. This means in practice that a specification without CAD application is available. Direct and easy
access to specification data ensures a high rate of standardization.

MATPIPE
The Module for Pipe Class and Catalogue Management
CADISON®
combines the engineering workflow in one system and thus significantly accelerates the planning pro-
cesses. All users can see on their workplaces - either graphically or as schematic, as 3D model or text-based in a
tree structure – the same data and objects in each case so that they can be optionally used and modified on all work-
places through simple Drag & Drop.
Data and/or objects are existing once only. Thus errors as a result of redundant data management are excluded. The
sophisticated right system ensures that tasks are handled selectively. Modifications introduced by other users are
immediately made available to all other users. The continuity of the individual work steps in one object-oriented
database forms the core of the CADISON®
technology. CADISON®
uses the widespread platforms Autodesk AutoCAD
or Microsoft Visio for graphical presentations.
CADISON_Module_R10_12_10_EN:MATPIPE 18.12.2010 15:08 Uhr Seite 2
3. Simple Intuitive Surface
CADISON®
MATPIPE can be operated intuitively
through a user surface that is easy and rapid to ope-
rate. For instance, the manufacturer catalogue data
are listed in own columns and the 3D graphic is visible
through a 3D variant modeller. All properties or depen-
dencies can be optionally modified in the catalogue.
The component data can be imported and exported
via different formats (CSV, XLS etc.).
Advantages of Catalogue Data
All parties involved in the project may immediately use
and implement the pipe classes, catalogue data etc. in
their respective project. Of course, the access to
embedded manufacturer catalogues according to defi-
ned pipe classes is possible from all modules.
For instance: In the design phase the CADISON®
3D planner has access either to the catalogue and pipe class data
allocated to the project or – provided the user is authorized to do so – directly to the overall catalogue. In case spe-
cific special components not included in the catalogue are needed, the existing components may be adapted to the
specific requirements. The necessary certificates and documents will be directly allocated to the special component
through the PDM system integrated in CADISON®
.
Tracing of Modifications
While projects are under work, objects from catalogues are incorporated into the respective planning. A sophistica-
ted role-based right system controls who is allowed to process and introduce the respective objects.
In the practical application it might occur that the content of catalogues is changed during the duration of the pro-
ject. To identify such modifications, CADISON®
MATPIPE provides integral functions for identification of such modi-
fications. Thus catalogue and/or planning modifications can be recognized and eliminated, for instance prior to order
placement.
Independent Report Generator
All pipe classes and catalogue descriptions prepared by means of CADISON®
MATPIPE can be issued by the inte-
grated report generator in most different forms and formats. All reports can be revised and have release mechanisms.
They are stored directly within the CADISON®
project. All documents can be presented even automatically as PDF.
