20. SEALING OF JOINTS
WHY SEAL JOINTS?
PREVENT WATER FROM PASSING THROUGH
JOINT
PREVENT INCOMPRESSIBLE MATERIALS FROM
ENTERING JOINTS – thereby allowing free
movement
of slabs
21. Materials are subject to Volumetric changes
Caused by changes in moisture content, temperature etc
These cause Movement
22. RESTRAINT OF EXPANSION MOVEMENT
DEVELOPMENT OF COMPRESSIVE STRESSES
RESTRAINT OF CONTRACTION MOVEMENT
DEVELOPMENT OF TENSILE STRESSES

32. What is Fire Stopping?
Fire Stopping is a method of
compartmentalisation within a building
that needs to be protected against the
passage of fire and smoke, whilst still
allowing for the penetration of services
through fire rated walls and floors.
34. Awareness
• Products tested in conjunction with
penetrating services
• Ensure load bearing products are
assessed/tested in a fire situation
• Never mix & match
• Use a competent installer
• Products installed to manufacturers
recommendations
35. Product Range
• Ablative Fire Boards
• Fire Rated Mortar
• Ablative Coatings, Cable Coating
• Pipe Seals – Collars, Wraps
• Sealant – Silicone, Acrylic, Intumescent Hybrid
• Linear Gap Seal
• Putty
• Fire Pillows
• Rain Screen / Floor and Cavity Barriers
• Curtains / Screens
• Fire Grills and Socket box Inserts (Putty)
• Flexi Coating
• Insulating Materials
36. Why Choose Us?
•Financially Competitive – Close supplier monitoring and
efficient production techniques enable our prices to
remain among the lowest in the industry
•Technically Competent – Interaction with our products
during the development, testing, manufacture,
packaging and dispatch stages gives us a complete
understanding of our catalogue
•Engineering Judgements – Close Relationships with our
customers allow us to look at non standard installation
details and suggest an Installation method.
37. Fire Stopping in Action
Before After
Fire is contained and office buildings remain intact. Escape
route/entrance route for fire fighters also remains safe.
Reduced damage, improved insurance negotiations.

PYROCOUSTIC
SEALANT
42. Pyrocoustic Overview
Pyrocoustic Sealant** is a one part,
Intumescent acrylic emulsion. It is
designed to resist the passage of both
fire and sound. The sealant will
intumesce and form a char that
provides a smoke and fire seal when
exposed to heat
** Intumescent Sealant, Mastic, Caulk
43. Pyrocoustic Sealant
• Fire resistance up to 5 hours
• An average sound reduction of 48dB
• Excellent movement capability of +/- 10%
• Cartridge packed makes product very
easy to use
• For use in Linear voids up to 50mm
• Also available in 600ml Foils
• White, Brown and Grey

SILVERSEAL
MORTAR
45. Mortar Overview
Silverseal Fire Mortar is a unique one
part, synthetic mortar which, when
mixed with water, produces a
trowelable or pourable compound
suitable for the sealing of openings in
walls and floors to prevent the passage
of fire and smoke.
47. Silverseal Mortar
• 20kg & 25kg bags
• Installed to 1, 2 and 4 hour resistance
• Can be reactivated to extend working time
• Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
• Long life and easy to use
• Up to 46dB reduction at 100mm thickness
• Maximum opening span of 4.7m x unlimited
• Can be mixed to pourable, trowelable or brick
able consistencies
48. Key Points
• Mortar is usually used in floor voids and is the ONLY
Fire protection product that can be made load
bearing.
• Usually sold to Fire stop specialists or structural
engineers.
• Often used in conjunction with Stopseal Pipe Wraps
50. Batt Overview
Firestopit Batt & Sealant systems are
designed to prevent the passage of fire
and smoke between compartment
walls and floors whilst still allowing the
installation of services.
52. Stopseal Batt

(e.g. steel works).
• Upgrading the fire resistance of emergency command
cabling. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use without additional
environmental protection.
• Independently fire tested to the requirements of IEC 60331-
11--21 1999 for circuit integrity of electrical cable under fire
conditions (>30 minutes circuit integrity achieved)
• Successfully fire tested protecting a multi-cable bundle on a
ladder to the requirements of IEC 60331-3-22: 2000-
Category A
