Technological advancements have elevated consumers’ expectations for the in-store shopping experience. The future of retail is about choice, consistency and customization. Consumers’ want the ability to choose how, when and where they shop, and retailers need to be prepared to meet those preferences. Outdoor retailers can leverage the support of in-store technologies to not only meet customers’ expectations, but create inventory transparency, reduce inventory overhead costs, provide a wider selection of products, and most importantly, gather customer data to better adapt to their shopping behaviors. Analysts agree that retailers who adopt trending technologies for business development are the most likely to grow their revenue and market share.
Factors to consider when designing your in-store technology platform:
•Look at how consumers are using mobile devices in-store to determine which technology will be most effective (focus on simplifying and assisting in their shopping experience).
•Start small with one product (i.e. mobile app or an iPad display) and then add on elements to reduce risk.
•Be flexible, watch and analyze – in-store technologies have website-like analytics to track user behavior (traffic, visits, click-throughs) and understand whether it’s effective.
•Create a unified supply chain strategy where orders can be placed and fulfilled through any channel before launching a mobile POS platform.
•Focus on providing a consistent and seamless experience by aligning Online and in-store efforts.
The following is a sample of how retailers have used advanced technologies to provide enhancements to the in-store shopping experience.
E-commerce is the buying and selling of good or services via the internet, and the transfer of money and data to complete the sales. It's also known as electronic commerce or internet commerce.
This presentation is all about e-commerce business and its advancements. Types of e-commerce business models and why e-commerce is needed and its pros and cons.

E-commerce -- electronic commerce or EC -- is the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet. These business transactions occur either as business-to-business, business-to-consumer, consumer-to-consumer or consumer-to-business.
Electronic commerce or ecommerce is a term for any type of business, or commercial transaction that involves the transfer of information across the Internet. It covers a range of different types of businesses, from consumer based retail sites, through auction or music sites, to business exchanges trading goods and services between corporations. It is currently one of the most important aspects of the Internet to emerge.
Ecommerce allows consumers to electronically exchange goods and services with no barriers of time or distance. Electronic commerce has expanded rapidly over the past five years and is predicted to continue at this rate, or even accelerate. In the near future the boundaries between "conventional" and "electronic" commerce will become increasingly blurred as more and more businesses move sections of their operations onto the Internet.

Introduction
Electronic commerce, commonly known as 'e-commerce', is the buying and selling of
products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer
networks. Electronic commerce draws on such technologies as electronic funds transfer,
supply chain management, Internet marketing, online transaction processing, electronic data
interchange (EDI), inventory management systems, and automated data collection systems.
Modern electronic commerce typically uses the at least at one point in the transaction's life-
cycle, although it may encompass a wider range of technologies such as e-mail, mobile
devices and telephones as well. Electronic commerce is generally considered to be the sales
aspect of e-business. It also consists of the exchange of data to facilitate the financing and
payment aspects of business transactions. Main area of e-commerce:, Business to Business
(B2B), Business to Consumer (B2C), Business to Government (B2G), Consumer to
Consumer (C2C).
The e-Commerce sector has seen dramatic growth since the early 2000’s when Bangladesh
lacked widespread internet access or a reliable online transaction system. In 2009, the
Bangladesh Bank, the country’s central bank authority, began permitting online transactions.
In 2013, the Bangladesh Bank also permitted the purchase and sale of goods and services
online using international credit cards. According to the International Telecommunication
Union (ITU), the number of internet users has nearly tripled from 6.5 percent of the
population in 2013 to 18.2 percent in 2017 and continues to grow. While only 2 percent of
the population has a fixed-broad band connection, 30 percent of the population has a mobile-
broad band subscription. Nonetheless, Bangladesh still ranks 147 out of 176 on the ITU’s
ICT Development Index 2017, an annual report that captures the level of ICT
development. The E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-Cab), the trade body for E-
Commerce in Bangladesh, estimates there are 700 E-Commerce sites and around 8,000 E-
Commerce pages on Facebook. Facebook remains a popular method for advertising and
selling products, to a point that many businesses forgo creating websites. Ten billion taka in
transactions takes place on E-Commerce sites per year according to a 2017 e-Cab report.
Consumer to Consumer Business
Consumer-to-consumer E-Commerce is one consumer selling goods or services to another
consumer online, similar to how Bikroy.com works. it can be defined as consumers
6. 5 | P a g e
transacting – both buying and selling – electronically (Leonard 2011) directly from one to
another. It is already a significant retailing phenomenon. Through various C2C e-commerce
platforms, consumers are given efficient and convenient access to an affordably priced
assortment of product categories such as clothes, accessories, electronics, sports equipment,
furniture and home decorations. Consumers are able to find the products they need, compare
prices and feel ecologically conscious, as through their own decisions they are able to
lengthen the life of the goods they use. Consequently, e-commerce is making the connection
of C2C demand and supply far more efficient in comparison with traditional C2C commerce.
Consumer-to-consumer e-commerce is taking place on various platforms, such as social
media (e.g. Facebook), advertisement websites and online auction sites (e.g. bikroy.com).
While all these platforms are aimed at transacting used goods, they also have unique
characteristics and differences. For example, while online auctions are based on consumers
bidding for an item, Facebook groups are more local and social and often built around
specific product groups or brand. The purpose of consumer-to-consumer E-Commerce is to
enable consumers to sell directly to other consumers without having to go through a
middleman. This allows the seller to keep more of their profit and the buyer to potentially
purchase the goods at a better price.
C2C (Consumer to Consumer) e-commerce business most common in Bangladesh. In recent
years, exponential growth prospects has been acquired by many Business-to-Business and
Business-to-Consumer type of e-commerce businesses (Tariq,2015). For example,
bikroy.com where anyone can post advertise to sell anything to anyone.

The figure shows two customers (customer 1 and customer 2) and a website providing the
space for advertisement. Customer 1 places advert on the website about products he wants to
sell and customer 2 visits the website to search for products he wants to buy. The transaction
between the customers goes on until payment and delivery of product is done.
Important Features of C2C Web Application
The buyer can purchase products from multiple sellers
The same customer can act as both buyer as well as seller
The online market place will allow buyer to browse products by using different
criteria such as; best seller, most popular product, from your city and many more
Different sellers can bid on the products wish list item listed by the buyer, what they
are looking for so that the buyer can get different best prices and offers from sellers
The social media linking functionalities include, community or forum discussion and
blog and other social media website link interface.
Key Consumer to Consumer Business Platforms in Bangladesh
Bikroy.com: Bikroy.com is one of the leading C2C E-commerce platforms in Bangladesh,
where buyers and sellers can buy and sell almost everything. The best deals are often done
with people who live in buyers and sellers’ own city or on buyers and sellers’ own street, so
on Bikroy.com it's easy to buy and sell locally. All buyers and sellers have to do is select
buyers and sellers region.
It's completely free to publish a classified ad on Bikroy.com, and it takes buyers and sellers
less than 2 minutes. Buyers and sellers can sign up for a free account and post ads easily
every time. Or, if buyers and sellers don't want to register, just go to Post Buyers and sellers

Bikroy.com has the widest selection of popular second hand items all over Bangladesh,
which makes it easy to find exactly what buyers and sellers are looking for. So if buyers and
sellers are looking for a car, mobile phone, house, computer or maybe a pet, buyers and

8. 7 | P a g e
Cellbazaar.com: Mobile-based online marketplace classified advertisements website of
buying and selling property, gadgets, vehicles and personal items for sale. Tickets and jobs
are also posted among other things. Starting in 2006 as CellBazaar, it is the first online free
classified ads website in Bangladesh.
Clickbd.com: Clickbd.com is a popular online buy-sell store where we can buy not only
brand new products but also used products such as cars, laptops, mobile phones, camera etc.
This is one of the few websites that have the category of selling real state online. We can find
automobile, electronics products like laptops, mobile phone, camera etc., books, fashion and
accessories, musical instruments here.
The site has an easy payment method that consists of cash on delivery, Visa card, Master
card, and BKash. We can also pay through Click Card, a membership card for this site.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages of C2C
1. Helps Create New Relationship Opportunities: Expanding or opening an account
in C2C can create a world of opportunity and helps to establish new relationships with
potential customers. Buyer and seller can interact with each other and build a
relationship that might be profitable.
2. Improve Information: C2C enabling flow of information among the customer. Now
consumer are more knowledgeable about the product they are buying because all
information are available.
3. Economic Growth: GDP of the country like Bangladesh is increasing very rapidly
because Consumer to consumer business have enable self-employment opportunity
and speed transaction. As a result GDP in growing.
4. Free Advertisement: E-commerce is enabling free advertising over the internet and
causing greater response for buying and selling.
9. 8 | P a g e
Disadvantages of C2C
1. Limited and Selected Sensory Information: If we were looking at buying a car on
the Internet, we would see the pictures the seller had chosen for us to see but not the
things we might look for if we were able to see it in person. We can't test the car to
hear the sound of the engine as it changes gears or sense the smell and feel of the
leather seats. There are many ways in which the Internet does not convey the richness
of experiences of the world.
2. Personal Service: Unlike other e-commerce business C2C has no personal service
facility. As a result great dissatisfaction occurs among the consumer if their
expectation doesn’t meet.

Conclusion
Despite being a developing country, selected segments of the Bangladeshi business
community has embraced technology with reasonable success. The Facsimile in the 1980’s
and mobile telephones in the 1990’s popularized modern technology in the mass market.
Personal computers and the Internet are also emerging as day‐to‐day business tools. These
positive indicators are favoring the prospects of e‐commerce in Bangladesh. Customer-to-
customer (C2C) e-commerce is titled to be the future of e-tail in Bangladesh and expected to
fill the consumption gaps in the country. It is steadily revolutionizing the online shopping
experience for Bangladeshi’s by bringing a new wave of sellers who are not just selling
standardized run-of-the-mill goods but products which are quirky, eccentric, and difficult to
source otherwise. Giving customers a sense of belonging, the transactions in this kind of e-
commerce often takes place of social media platforms like Facebook & Instagram with online
marketplaces as the intermediaries between sellers and buyers
