TeenScene Media are a media production company producing media products across a range of sectors. They are planning a new range of products designed to appeal to young people from 13-19 across a range of
demographic backgrounds and are researching how past and present media products are created to engage specific audiences.
In your role as a junior researcher they have asked you to write a report reviewing a range of media products from the audio/moving image, publishing and interactive sectors that have been produced by their competitors to
analyse their purpose and how they have been created to engage their audiences.
They have then asked that you focus on a range of products from one of the sectors to analyse how genre, narrative, representation and production techniques are used to create meaning for the audiences. Your findings will
be used to help develop new media products for the teen audience.

and an secondary audience of adults. We can see this when within the magazine typography such as san-serif fonts has been used
to represent and appeal to a younger audience as san-serif fonts appear to show as more modern. Whereas, other typography used
such as serif fonts has been used to represent and appeal to an older audience as it appears to be more traditional and classical.
The text has been placed in a thoughtful way and so the text doesn’t cover the main image/model as the cover lines and text are
designed to be at the side of the magazines (rule of thirds). In the coverlines, the design/text has been written in a thoughtful way as
throughout the coverlines they use alliteration which further catches the audience's eyes as when reading it, it will be catchy to them.
In addition,different audiences have been interpreted as the this product is targeted towards a younger audience as a primary
audience along with a secondary audience of young adults. The economic group of this magazine would be targeted towards group
A-C2 as you have to be able to purchase this magazine and vogue prices are high. Even further, the ethnicity of this magazine would
be white british/america as the model on the main image appears to be that. However, this magazine can appeal to everyone. In
addition, the gender of this magazine shows to be targeted towards females as the pink across the cover is contrasting that to us.
Secondary audience is being shown through the typography and text as this magazine is exploring to the audience over a collective
fashion/makeup looks which appear to be presented as mature. However, within the coverlines it appears to appeal to younger
audiences as its saying “princess dresses” which is shown to be childish and also vogue has used exclamation marks which
teenagers appear to use a lot within texts or on social media. Generic influence has been used strongly throughout this magazine it’s
being presented to this audience as fashion and makeup advice which influence the audience to explore these different styles and
techniques included in this. I can clearly see that vogue has chosen the narrative of this magazine to be glamour and is telling a story
to the audience how to become their most glamorous self through fashion as the splash “oh so pretty!” is highlighting this. To
reinforce this vogue has done this to represent/combining this to create a meaning for the audience. Vogue has chosen the cover of
this magazine to be lana del rey as this creates an impression and it attract/persuades lana’s audience to buy this product which
creates a wider audience range for them as a brand. Representation is used throughout this magazine as the brand vogue has telled
a narrative through the front cover as this is being represented to the audience as being glamorous as the cover star is showing this
to us. Furthermore, representation is reinforced with vladimir propp theory is shown to be a princess as the colour palette pink within
the magazine and also with the cover stars glamour which is shown to be adored by the audience and makes the audience want to
have her beauty. This is apparent in the makeup the cover star is wearing as the lipstick is shown to be glossy along with the
costume being classy as its shown to be a formal dress, along with the dress the cover star is using props such as jewelry which is
shown to be in diamonds and shows that the cover star is possessing glamour to the audience along with wealth. In the photography

target an audience of young teenage girls as the
colour is designed to be associated with gossip
and pink is seen as sweet/innocent therefore, we
can see that this is contrasting to the model as

an secondary audience of young adults, this would be because the older audience may be interested in

audience) and the secondary audience being young adults. We can see that in the magazine typography has been used in a
range in different fonts for example san-serif fonts (bold) have been used to draw attention to a younger range audience as
the younger audience appears to be in a modern society whereas serif fonts have been used to appear vintage/traditional
and classic to the audience which appeals to the older audience. Furthermore, it has also included a handwritten font in the
masthead which is presenting freedom to the audience as the font is shown to be freely handwritten. In the cover lines also it
