This study seeks to address the lack of inclusion of Black women in academic research on video gaming. The author conducted a survey of 75 Black women ranging from 18-65 years old to understand their gaming preferences, habits, and opinions on representation in games. The results showed that most play 1-2 hours every now and then, prefer shooting and horror games if there are Black female characters, and do not think Eurocentric beauty standards are ideal representations for Black women in games. The conclusion calls for including Black women in gaming research to better understand their experiences and reimagine their representation in games and technology.
