ways that make our heads spin. The purpose of this institute is to
get a handle on these technological innovations to help our students
learn better as they engage with our learning centers.
Focusing on current theories and best practices in enhancing
student learning through technology, attendees will learn about
new advances, engage in activities, and plan how to implement
technology to enhance learning assistance on their campuses.
This institute is appropriate for learning assistance, tutorial
services, and developmental education faculty and staff who develop
curriculum, workshops, and other resources for students.
Craig Lamb is the Director of Academic Support at Empire State College's, Center for Distance Learning. While Craig
is working primarily with students in need of additional academic support services and academic skill development,
and with faculty interested in delivering their courses content and material in more effective ways to increase student
learning, he is becoming more and more interested in the creative uses of new technology to enhance student learning
both within and outside the online class environment.
Lisa D'Adamo-Weinstein is currently the Director of Academic Support at Empire State College's Northeast Center.
Lisa has also taught and coordinated academic assistance and learning support programs at Indiana University's Student
Academic Center, including an academic retention course for at-risk students. She was the Coordinator of Student-Athlete
Academic Support at American University in Washington, D.C. Most recently, she directed the Academic
Excellence Program at the United States Military Academy, West Point for seven years until moving in August 2006 to
the NY State Capital Region. Lisa has published journal articles for The Learning Assistance Review (published by
the National College Learning Center Association—NCLCA) and is co-author of the book Piecing It Together: A Guide to Student Success.

The NBN will provide enhanced infrastructure for delivering rich multimedia experiences and cloud-hosted applications in education. Over the next five years, the use of tablet devices like the iPad will become the norm and the desktop computer will disappear.
Understanding what the future will look like from a technology perspective is key to being able to develop the skills to maximise the opportunities it offers. The skills needed for teachers, students and parents in technology are quickly changing. Social media is at the forefront of this, with use and time spent in Australia online increasing significantly every year.
Understanding how to collect and share information and observe appropriate online etiquette in safe and secure ways are important concerns for educators, especially with the rapid uptake of social media. The aim of this workshop is to provide a picture of Australia’s current online usage and behaviour, outline broad international trends and their application in education and provide the opportunity to develop a safe and practical understanding of social media technologies that would be valuable in professional practice in education.

This case study examines a preschool called Forever Growing that aims to implement new educational technologies to improve students' readiness skills. It will evaluate whether conditions for successful implementation exist based on an 8-factor framework. A strategy will be developed to address any deficiencies and ensure technologies become fully institutionalized. The school has grown steadily but faces financial challenges inhibiting resource acquisition. Additional technologies may help overcome knowledge gaps in students. The case study will generate recommendations to guide Forever Growing through the implementation and institutionalization of new innovations.

Connected Educator Month 2012
The document summarizes Connected Educators Month (CEM) from 2012, which included over 389 events hosted by 151 organizations involving more than 2,200 speakers. Edu on Tour 2012: Action Research about Alternatives in Education
Out of our experience in Austria a 1-week program Edu on Tour:2012 was coming out as a dynamic group learning process with concrete results and a social impact. In November 2012 12 social entrepreneurs and education activists from all around the world met up to a social media campaign for making alternatives in education visible.
The participants realized the tour within a self-organizing process from and met the first time in person at the start in Amsterdam.
Among those were also the responsible stuff and founders of Nuestra Escuela (Puerto Rico; Stated funded school with democratic principles; http://www.nuestraescuela.org/) that is one of the driving forces in the education transition in South America. During the Edu on Tour Styria we visited 5 alterna-tive education institutions.

Abstract: We have all had to pivot rapidly from teaching face-to face to teaching fully online and have learned many lessons along the way, in a particularly short space of time. In many cases, if our IT groups and vendors had not equally risen to the occasion this would not have been possible. However, what has been observed is that those who have fared better over these recent months have been those institutions with well-established frameworks in place to mediate their technology-enhanced learning (TEL). That is, they have recognised processes that define how they translate what is in policy, procedures and planning into practice with appropriate IT scaffolding. Such a framework can be found within a number of TEL quality tools, that are designed to provide an institution with clear guidelines as to what things need to be in place to facilitate a robust and consistent approach to teaching with technology. Once these things are in place it makes it possible to undertake online teaching that does more than just mimic face-to-face practice, but actually provide a the foundation for innovative pedagogies to thrive. One concept associated with this is the notion that students can be productive and typically, this means the TEL has, or can become far more, active, authentic and collaborative.

The impact of video becoming mainstream across the whole UCL campus
Video has become mainstream across the University College London (UCL) campus over the past decade. Initially, lectures were simply recorded for students to access online (lecture capture). However, UCL has increasingly focused on using video in pedagogically innovative ways to engage students. Staff now create online video lessons, screen recordings, and flipped classroom models. Students also produce and interact with videos. UCL aims to support these practices by providing training and easy-to-use video tools integrated with the learning management system. The goal is high-quality, sustainable video use that improves the student learning experience.

A keynote presentation for the Online Teaching Pathways for Early-Career Criminologists & Sociologists

Abstract: We have all had to pivot rapidly from teaching face-to face to teaching fully online and have learned many lessons along the way, in a particularly short space of time. In many cases, if our IT groups and vendors had not equally risen to the occasion this would not have been possible. However, what has been observed is that those who have fared better over these recent months have been those institutions with well-established frameworks in place to mediate their technology-enhanced learning (TEL). That is, they have recognised processes that define how they translate what is in policy, procedures and planning into practice with appropriate IT scaffolding. Such a framework can be found within a number of TEL quality tools, that are designed to provide an institution with clear guidelines as to what things need to be in place to facilitate a robust and consistent approach to teaching with technology. Once these things are in place it makes it possible to undertake online teaching that does more than just mimic face-to-face practice, but actually provide a the foundation for innovative pedagogies to thrive. One concept associated with this is the notion that students can be productive and typically, this means the TEL has, or can become far more, active, authentic and collaborative.

Capturing student generated learning with mahoodle
This document discusses the use of Mahoodle, an integration of Moodle and Mahara, to support collaborative and inclusive learning frameworks at the University of the South Pacific. Specifically, it examines a case study of a large undergraduate course (UU100) that uses Mahoodle. Students generate eportfolios to complete mini summative assignments across 6 themes. A survey of over 800 students found that most had a positive attitude towards creating eportfolios, being motivated by the creative and learning aspects. However, some students faced issues with heavy workloads and meeting deadlines.

The impact of video becoming mainstream across the whole UCL campus
Video has become mainstream across the University College London (UCL) campus over the past decade. Initially, lectures were simply recorded for students to access online (lecture capture). However, UCL has increasingly focused on using video in pedagogically innovative ways to engage students. Staff now create online video lessons, screen recordings, and flipped classroom models. Students also produce and interact with videos. UCL aims to support these practices by providing training and easy-to-use video tools integrated with the learning management system. The goal is high-quality, sustainable video use that improves the student learning experience.

Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
