Many analysts and writers talk about the transition that is happening in today's world: from the "Information Age", dominated by "transactions and documents" to the "Conceptual Age", governed by "relations".
The Conceptual Age redefines many of the traditional patterns. Co-creation is the norm and "Sharing knowledge" becomes more important than possessing it.
Leading Companies are accompaining this transformation by redefining themselves, changing from "organizations" to "organisms", where the previous "mechanical interactions" are being replaced by "organic touches". And the way in which these Companies do Business becomes a "social activity" shaped by the rich relationships involving employees, partners and customers.
Becoming a Social Enterprise is the way these leading Companies have chosen to address the challenges of the Conceptual Age.

Phil Cracknell, Head of Security & Privacy Services at Company85 - BYO A good...Global Business Events
BYO or Bring Your Own devices has become a controversial issue for companies as it allows employees to use personal devices for work purposes. While BYO can potentially save companies money and increase employee productivity, it also brings significant security risks if not implemented properly. These risks include exposed corporate data, loss of device control, and compatibility issues. Ultimately, how well or poorly BYO works depends on establishing clear policies, deploying mobile device management solutions, and ensuring users receive proper training and understand security requirements when using personal devices for work.
This document discusses the need for executives to upgrade their digital skills and competencies to keep up with rapid technological changes. It argues that executives are falling behind due to a lack of understanding of emerging technologies, time constraints, frustration with technology, and a lack of experience using it. It stresses that transformation requires assessing needs, designing roadmaps aligned with strategies, and developing business cases to fund and manage implementation of new technologies and ways of working.
Web 2.0 focuses on application services rather than software. Unlike technologies introduced in the 1990s, application services do not require users to load software and instead reside on the web. The article discusses trends associated with Web 2.0 like focusing on niche or "long tail" markets, enabling user-generated content, and providing services that can be accessed from any device via the web rather than requiring specific software. These trends are shaping how e-learning is developing, with a focus on short, on-demand microcontent and leveraging user-generated content and multiple media types.

Some key areas of convergence include knowledge sharing, many-to-many communication, and transparency both internally with employees and externally with customers. While cultural advantages exist with E20, companies must also be willing to cede some control of the conversation to customers. A case study of USEO, a small consulting firm, demonstrated how building an external public community can be combined with internal collaboration.

There are three key components to a social business:
1) Engaged networks of people that deeply connect employees, customers, and partners to drive business results.
2) Transparent information sharing that removes boundaries between people, helping them access experts, assets, and insights.
3) Nimble interactions and decision making that speed up business processes to anticipate and address evolving opportunities.
