Every year, the federal government awards contracts to hundreds of thousands of companies, but very few of those contracts go to women-owned businesses. Since 2000, the federal government has set a goal of awarding 5 percent of its contracts to women-owned small businesses, which it has only just begun to meet. In the webinar Business Forward hosted on March 26, Erin Andrew, Assistant Administrator at the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Kristie Arslan, Executive Director at Women Impacting Public Policy, discussed how women-owned small businesses can take advantage of government contracts to help grow their businesses.
