Know the Bus
Rules!
• BE SAFE
– Stay out of the bus danger zone.
– When riding the bus, remain seated at all times.
– Keep hands, feet and belongings to yourself.
• BE RESPECTFUL
– Use quiet voices and be courteous.
– Follow the driver’s instructions.
• BE RESPONSIBLE
– Bring only school-approved items on the bus.
– Help keep all students safe.

Be Safe: Know the Danger Zone!-
the space around, in front
and behind the bus
• Always cross
in front of the
bus. Wait for
the driver to
signal.
• Never enter
the “danger
zone” to pick
up papers,
mittens, balls,
etc
REMEMBER! The driver can not
see you in the “danger zone!”
Be Safe: Waiting for the Bus
in the morning
• Dress for the weather
• Be on time – arrive no
more than 10 minutes
before the bus arrives

• Use Safe behaviors:
– Hands/feet to self
– Stay away from curb and
off the road
– Use kind words
– Stay at bus stop
• Wait for the bus to STOP
and the doors to open
before getting on.
Be Responsible: Riding the Bus
-Go directly to your
assigned seat and
sit down.
– Backs to the back,
seats to the seat,
feet point toward the
floor. (Sitting safe.)
– Keep your body
inside the bus.
Be Respectful: Riding the Bus
• The Bus Driver is in charge:
– Use an inside voice
– Keep hands, feet and property to self.
– Keep aisle clear.
– Face front.
– Follow the the directions of the bus
driver.
Be Safe: Leaving the Bus
• RESPECT SELF:
– Stay in your seat until
the bus stops.
– Remember to take
everything with you.
– Exit from front to back.
(Don’t push or crowd.)
-When arriving at school,
go directly to your
assigned area.

bus is a privilege, not a

WALK to the bus on the sidewalk.
NEVER enter the danger zone.

door is open.
If not, line up according to sign in front of teacher
and wait to be called on bus.

1. Drivers will report each morning a green or red card based
on students Safe, Respectful, and Responsible behaviors.
2. Those buses with the most green cards at the end of the
week are eligible for a golden ticket worth 5 blue tickets!
3. Winners are announced and put on the website!
