CHARACTERISTICS

∗ EDUCATION IN BULGARIA IS COMPULSORY FOR THE
  STUDENTS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 7 TO 16.




∗ THE SCHOOL YEAR IS DIVIDED INTO TWO TERMS,
  STARTING ON 15 SEPTEMBER AND ENDING IN MAY
  OR JUNE.

∗ Academies and Institutes
  Specialized higher schools offer training
  and research in one or more areas of
  science, art, sport and defense. The
  name of the specialized university
  indicates the main set of subjects in its
  curriculum.
UNIVERSITIES

∗ Are higher education institutions that offer training
  in a wide range of subjects, at least three of the
  four main research areas (humanitarian studies,
  sciences, social sciences and technology).
  Universities have their own resources and research
  equipment and can contribute to the development
  of key areas of science and culture. These higher
  education institutions can provide training for
  students in all scientific degrees

COLLEGES

They offer relatively shorter and professionally-
oriented training. These are the former semi-
higher institutes, which underwent various
transformations. Most colleges are part of
universities and use their facilities and
equipment.
