Civil engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields. Civil engineering focuses on the infrastructure of the world which includeWater works, Sewers, Dams, Power Plants, Transmission Towers/Lines, Railroads, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Irrigation Canals, River Navigation, Shipping Canals, Traffic Control, Mass Transit, Airport Runways, Terminals, Industrial Plant Buildings, Skyscrapers, etc.Among the important subdivisions of the field areconstruction engineering, irrigation engineering, transportation engineering, soils and foundation engineering, geodetic engineering, hydraulic engineering, and coastal and ocean engineering.Civil engineersbuild the world’s infrastructure. In doing so, they quietly shape the history of nations around the world. Most people can not imagine life without the many contributions of civil engineers to the public’s health, safety and standard of living. Only by exploring civil engineering’s influence in shaping the world we know today, can we creatively envision the progress of our tomorrows.

Application of Remote Sensing in AgricultureUTTAM KUMAR
Remote sensing has been found to be a valuable tool in evaluation, monitoring and management of land, water and crop resources. The launching of the Indian remote sensing satellite (IRS) has enhanced the capabilities for better utilization of this technology and significant progress has been made in soil and land cover mapping, land degradation studies, monitoring of waste land, assessment of crop conditions crop acreage and production estimates
The annual rainfall of Iran is about 13% as compared to rainfall in India. Despite of it, due to employing Rainwater Harvesting techniques and better water management , the government of Iran has been able to match up the water demands of the citizens of Iran. The presentations gives an overview of torography, technology, various rainwater harvesting structures employed in Iran.
This is the support deck for an introductory class I made for Junior Designers, Developers, Product and Project Managers to introduce them to the proper way to use wireframes.
I did this class already multiple times at General Assembly (London, UK), TechLab (Santa Clara, CA) and internally in my consulting job.
It's updated to OmniGraffle 6.

About me/Introduction
Eportfolio is one of the most successful assignments that I learned in PMU. So, most of
the students in PMU had a good experience with this assignment, because it is very
helpful and effective for the students to share their experience in the six competences.
Also, most of the students can learn from each other by looking to each student’s
experience. These six competences are very helpful for the students, because they will
know the importance of the communication and teamwork to do our work in the life.
Also, they will know the relationship between being a leadership and professional.
This is Ahmed Alramadan, I am a sophomore student at prince Mohammed Bin Fahd in
Saudi Arabia. I am studying a mechanical engineering in the college of engineering. I
chose this major because I want to be one of the most successful engineers in the Saudi
Arabia. Moreover, most of the companies in the Saudi Arabia need a lot of engineers’
specially mechanical engineers. Also, I interest in this major because I have a huge
information about the Mechanical engineering and I interest to work with engines, design
and manufacturing.
Professional Goals
My short term goal is to graduate from prince Mohammed Bin Fahd University in
mechanical engineering after two years.
My long term goal is to keep going in studying and having a master in management, then
I will start to do my project as establishing a company for manufacturing and designing
engines.
Competencies
The six core competences are one of the most important goals that PMU needs from all
the students to know these competences and apply it in their life. You cannot pass the
core if you do not know the competences and the importance of these competences in our
life.

7. How to top with minimum study ?
Ur major activities:-
Take ‘smart’ decisions and
make sacrifices. It will pay U
back.
Remember ‘No Free Lunch’
Theorem.
Stair method:
Always set a small goal
Get it done
This will give U lot of
confidence.
Then set next higher goal
Never jump directly…!
Remember: Low Aim Is Crime

How to top with optimum study ?
8. Planning:-
People spend their days in
study, but achieve very little
success, B’coz they are not
planning.
U must consider Ur abilities
and limitations while
planning.
Revision must be a part of
planning.
Long term: Prepare plan for
the whole semester for
complete syllabus.
Short term: Plan for a week
and for each topic.
Remember:
People generally overestimate
themselves. Initially you may fail,
but after some time, planning will
become Ur habit.
It is better to be a ‘fool’ for some
time, instead of remaining fool
forever…so try to be in touch with
Ur teachers to get Ur doubts
cleared.
Monday, July 21, 2014Buitems Career in Civil Engineering, by- Ajmal Achakzai
8
9. Organization of syllabus-
Concentrate on 1st
quadrant ( 50 % time)
2nd quadrant: (20% time)
3rd quadrant: (20% time)
Don’t waste Ur time on 4th
quadrant. (10 % time)
Monday, July 21, 2014Buitems Career in Civil Engineering, by- Ajmal Achakzai
9
10. When and What to study?
When U feel fresh &
energetic (morning): Start
with theory and new topics
When Ur tired, (evening):
Problems and revision.
Remember…!
It is not necessary and
possible also… to command
whole syllabus. Keep watch
on previous years question
papers, and choose the
topics of Ur interest.
Have a look on syllabus at
the start of semester.
What is purpose of PL:
Fresh study
Revision
Remember…!
No. of hours of self study
≥ 2 * Class hours.
Don’t have a mentality
that firstly I will complete
theory and then problems.
Both should be done
simultaneously.
Monday, July 21, 2014Buitems Career in Civil Engineering, by- Ajmal Achakzai
10
11. Notes:
Use Ur own notes.
Make a habit to take notes in
class.
1st Revision notes: 10
pages/chapter
2nd revision notes: 3 pages/chapter
3rd revision notes: ½ page/chapter
Zip and unzip procedure.
Keep Ur notes and books with
U…forever.
Before going
to exam, close
all the books
and have a
look on final
notes
Monday, July 21, 2014Buitems Career in Civil Engineering, by- Ajmal Achakzai
11
12. Reference Books-
Selection of books should be
done with proper care , since
Ur success heavily depends
on it.
Market is flooded with books.
So follow only those books in
which you are comfortable in
understanding the
fundamentals
Use Ur own books.
Never take a book without
pen/pencil in other hand.
Write what U understand/not
understand on that book.
It will help U in next revision.
Don’t write on Library books.
Instead, first make a Xerox
copy.
It is better to solve/read a book
twice rather than two books
once.
Clarify Ur doubts from Ur
teachers/friends. Help others.
Remember, Having no
concept is better than mis-
concept.
Monday, July 21, 2014Buitems Career in Civil Engineering, by- Ajmal
Achakzai
12
13. Revision:-
Close Ur eyes and try to
recollect whatever U had
studied.
Do this very
systematically, step-by-
step and gradually.
When you stuck, open
Ur notes and look.
NEVER try to remember
a particular numerical
problem.
How many revisions?
First Revision: Immediately
after class. (5 min.)
Second revision: Just
before start of the class (5
min)
Third revision: After a week.
Last revision: Before exam

14. Tips-
Exam ke kuch din pehale
frustration ho jata hain…
Kya kare?
Don’t worry…Its
natural…! Remember: A
piece of coal perform
well under temperature
and pressure, known as
‘Diamond’.
U should be strong to
handle these tension. CE
is very challenging
branch.
At the bottom of success
ladder, there is only
crowd; at upper part
there is a competition.
Always remain in upper
part.
Monday, July 21, 2014Buitems Career in Civil Engineering, by- Ajmal Achakzai
14
15. During Exam:
Before going to exam, don’t
talk with negative minded
persons.
You must be mentally tough.
Be bold & confident. U must
concentrate on Ur task
irrespective of what is going
around.
Start with easy question, that
will give U confidence.
At the end of each question,
write summary.
Don’t loose Ur confidence
even if U have NOT
performed well in one
exam. Remember, if paper
is tough, it is tough for
everybody.
If possible, use two
coloured pen- Blue and
Black. But don’t waste Ur
time. Make balance
between speed and
accuracy.
Between two exams, don’t
discuss exam paper of
previous exam.

Consider Ur capabilities
and limitations…!
Don’t underestimate or
Overestimate Ur self.
Ur answer will be Ur

21. How to overcome failure
'A life spent making mistakes is not only more
honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing
nothing‘
-George Bernard Shaw
We learn wisdom from failure much more than from
success. We often discover what will do, by finding
out what will not do; and probably he who never
made a mistake never made a discovery.
Remember: Failure is first step of success.
