Two-thirds of illiterate adults worldwide are women. Educating women lifts entire communities out of poverty by improving health, growing businesses, and contributing more to society. buildOn believes all people deserve education to better their lives and communities. The organization is inviting 100 female US leaders to donate $1,000 each to support developing world women leaders through literacy classes, apprenticeships, and building up buildOn's own female staff.

1. Two-thirds of the world’s 785 million illiterate adults are female. Educating and empowering these women
is a key first step to ending poverty in the developing world. When women are educated they lift up their
entire communities by improving family health, developing sustainable businesses, and making greater
contributions to society.

Your Contribution Will:
Provide Adult Literacy Classes for Women: buildOn teaches women essential literacy through the
lens of health, enterprise and relevant life skills, while helping them generate strategic plans for income
generating activities.
Fund buildOn’s Apprentice Program: Women are given the opportunity to shadow buildOn’s skilled
laborers and learn valuable construction skills during their local school building project. At the end of the
apprenticeship they earn a certificate from buildOn and may even be hired as a member of the buildOn
skilled labor team.
Develop Women Leaders in the buildOn Organization: Developing female leaders in the countries
where buildOn works is essential to empowering women in the developing world.
