primary, intermediate, and
higher education have been
eliminated in developing
countries as a whole.
Around three-quarters of
working-age males and half
of working-age women
engage in the labor force
globally.
Outside of agriculture,
women now account for
41% of all paid workers, up
from 35% in 1990.
Over the last 20 years, the
average share of women in
parliament has nearly
doubled.
Women continue to face
major disparities in poverty,
employment and salaries,
and participation in private
and governmental decision-
making.
Gender disparities in primary and secondary education should be eliminated by
2005, and at all levels of education by 2015.

3. Why does it resonate for
you?
I grow in a community where people
considered women education as wasting of
time because they will end up being a
housewives and nothing more than that. I was
told that women can’t seek a professional
occupations because she was only created to
be a mom, wife, and care giver. I resonate with
this because I want my community and other
communities who still have these believe to be
developed and empower women to become
what they want.

4. How can your interest be applied locally?
• Communities can create groups that supports women empowerment
• Host meeting with young girls and share stories of other women that they
can relate to
• Offer weekly tutoring for women who have kids and struggle with school
work.

5. Where can you make the
greatest contribution?
I believe that I can make the greatest
contributions through Facebook. I have a wide
community of young females who experiences
gender equality issues in their countries.
Therefore, the greatest way to contribute and
reach the most possible audience is through
Facebook.

6. Is there a feature of social media that can be
uniquely applied to this goal?
Instagram hashtag can be a great feature to apply
for this goal. Creating a unique hashtag where
people can actively share issue concerning
gender equality and empowering women will be a
strong tool to reach many audience. We can then
later associate this hashtag for donation
collections to help other countries achieve this
goal.
