The document discusses the solid waste problem in Metro Manila and proposes an alternative solution. It notes that Metro Manila generates over 5,000 metric tons of waste per day currently, but only 73% is collected. The proposed solution utilizes rapid composting technology to convert organic wastes into organic fertilizer within 10-15 minutes. The process utilizes a multi-shredder pulverizer and rapid composting machine to efficiently break down waste without emitting methane or odor. The resulting compost fertilizer can then be used on farms or sold. The technology promotes zero waste processing of both organic and non-organic materials in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.
Paper, Pulp and Paperboard Production from Bamboo. Profitable Bamboo Processing Industry
Bamboo is a quickly renewable resource. Bamboo is the single fastest growing species of plant on the planet with some species growing more than a meter a day. In sharp contrast to trees which require decades to recover from harvesting, bamboo reaches maturity in 3 to 5 years or less and when it is cut, the stem is left in the soil to sprout a new shoot and start the growing process again.
Paper has been made from bamboo for hundreds of years. The commercial process uses actual bamboo canes for pulp. Bamboo paper is attracting the attention of companies and individuals looking for eco-friendly printing and sustainability. Despite the digital revolution, the demand for paper is growing globally.

The dairy industry involves processing raw milk into products such as consumer milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, condensed milk, dried milk (milk powder), and ice cream, using processes such as chilling, pasteurization, and homogenization. Typical by-products include buttermilk, whey, and their derivatives. Dairy industries have shown tremendous growth in size and number inmost countries of the world . These industries discharge wastewater which is characterized by high chemical oxygen demand, biological oxygen demand, nutrients, and organic and inorganic contents. Such wastewaters, if discharged without proper treatment, severely pollute receiving water bodies.
Dairy processing plants can be divided into two categories:
Fluid milk processing involving the pasteurization and processing of raw milk into liquid milk for direct consumption, as well as cream, flavored milk, and fermented products such as buttermilk and yogurt.
Industrial milk processing involving the pasteurization and processing of raw milk into value-added dairy products such as cheese and casein, butter and other milk fats, milk powder and condensed milk, whey powder and other dairy ingredients, and ice cream and other frozen dairy products.

How the Waste Water Treated from Industries?
Waste management is the collection, transport, processing, recycling or disposal, and
monitoring of waste materials.
[1]
The term usually relates to materials produced by human
activity, and is generally undertaken to reduce their effect on health, the environment or
aesthetics. Waste management is also carried out to recover resources from it. Waste
management can involve solid, liquid, gaseous or radioactive substances, with different methods
and fields of expertise for each.
To minimize the initial generation of waste materials through source reduction, then through reusing and recycling to further reduce the volume of the material being sent to landfills or incineration compared to the conventional approach of simply focusing on disposal of solid waste.

RAPID COMPOSTING SYSTEM (RCS)
With Manual and Mechanical Separator System
(For Biodegradable or Nabubulok waste)
The system is composed of two units : Rapid Composting Unit (RCS) and the Manual and Mechanical Segregator both supported by conveyors and sub-conveyors.
This equipment basically converts biodegradable waste into powdered raw organic Fertilizer in five (5) minutes and into a complete high quality organic fertilizer in only 5 days after putting them into polytwine bags and storing them in the bodega for 5 days composting period instead of the usual 45 days.
The quality of organic fertilizer that is produced is very high quality, since the compost is well grounded and treated by bio-6 enzyme (lactobacilli), carbon activator, cocopeat and natural fresh water origin zeolyte.
The Fertilizer is also free from toxic elements since before processing the plastic, metals, bottles and other big materials in the biodegradable to the plant are removed by the Manual and Mechanical Segregator System.
The system other than achieving it’s major objective of eliminating Pollution and Dumpsite also will help the Government in terms of food production, health and economy.

The growing population and their changing consumption patterns have made Solid Waste Management a serious environmental and social problem. This situation has further become complex as domestic waste, market waste, industrial waste, agricultural and hazardous waste and other types of waste including both degradable and non-degradable particles get mixed in the mainstream of the municipal solid waste. Failure to segregate waste at the source has created the need for alternate methods. Drum–Sieve segregator is one such alternative for segregation, which similar to conventional processes segregate the non-decomposable from the decomposed particles through a sieve. The Drum-Sieve segregator is an approach to provide the segregation at lower power requirements, unlike conventional processes which are bulky and require larger space and power for operation. The Drum-sieve segregator is aimed to be used in cities where space for huge plants for operation is scarce. And hence it is designed to be compact and efficient. Drum-Sieve segregator is primarily aimed for segregating plastic from Organic waste, which is the final separated product obtained that can used a natural fertilizers. Unlike traditional segregating systems, the proposed model is smaller, easy to maintain and absorbs less power. It is mobile, and eliminates the need for manual feeding and cleaning of impurities.
food waste disposal is an important operation in food manufacturing industries for sanitation. Effluent treatment plants are used in industries for the waste water treatment.

UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.

"Understanding the Carbon Cycle: Processes, Human Impacts, and Strategies for...MMariSelvam4
The carbon cycle is a critical component of Earth's environmental system, governing the movement and transformation of carbon through various reservoirs, including the atmosphere, oceans, soil, and living organisms. This complex cycle involves several key processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, each contributing to the regulation of carbon levels on the planet.
Human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, have significantly altered the natural carbon cycle, leading to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and driving climate change. Understanding the intricacies of the carbon cycle is essential for assessing the impacts of these changes and developing effective mitigation strategies.
By studying the carbon cycle, scientists can identify carbon sources and sinks, measure carbon fluxes, and predict future trends. This knowledge is crucial for crafting policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing carbon storage, and promoting sustainable practices. The carbon cycle's interplay with climate systems, ecosystems, and human activities underscores its importance in maintaining a stable and healthy planet.
In-depth exploration of the carbon cycle reveals the delicate balance required to sustain life and the urgent need to address anthropogenic influences. Through research, education, and policy, we can work towards restoring equilibrium in the carbon cycle and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.

3. SITUATIONER
Waste disposal is a problem
that concerns everyone due
to the dangers posed by the
garbage and solid wastes.
If not systematically collected
and properly disposed,
garbage and solid wastes
endanger public health and
safety, and bring about
hazardous effects to the
environment.
4. SITUATIONER
Based on studies
made by the National
Solid Waste
Management
Commission
(NSWMC), it is
estimated that the per
capita waste
production daily in
Metro Manila is 0.5kg.
This means that half a
kilo of waste is
generated per person
a day.
5. SITUATIONER
With an estimated population of 10.5 million, the total waste
generated in Metro Manila alone could run up to 5,250 metric tons
per day; or 162,750 metric tons per month; or 1.95 million metric
tons per year.
6. SITUATIONER
In Metro Manila alone, the estimated waste production for 2013 is
9,468 tons per day from households (74.15%), commercial shops
(10.24, commercial restaurants (8.18%), Markets (6.13%), institutions
(0.75%), street sweepings (0.42%), and river clean up (0.11%).
7. SITUATIONER
Based on the EMB study, only about 73% of the 5,250 metric
tons of waste generated daily are collected by dump trucks
hired by respective local government units.
.
8. EVERYONE’S CONCERN
The remaining 27% of the daily wastes or about 1,417.5
metric tons end up in canals, vacant spaces, street corners,
market places, rivers and other places.
9. GOVERNMENT RESPONSE
Republic Act No. 9003
“Ecological Solid Waste
Management Act of 2000”
Sets forth guidelines and regulations for
proper segregation, collection, storage,
treatment, and processing of waste using
appropriate facilities and technologies.
10. LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT MANDATE
Republic Act 9003 mandates the
primary responsibility and lead
to the Local Government Units
(LGUs) to implement as well as
enforce the provisions of the law
within their respective political
and demographic jurisdiction.
The law emphasizes the importance of
minimizing waste through reuse,
recycling, resource recovery, and
composting.
11. LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT MANDATE
Each provincial, city, municipal and barangay
is mandated to:
• create a Solid Waste Management (SWM)
Board at the city/municipal and provincial
levels;
• create an SWM committee in the barangay
level;
• submit a 10-year SWM plan (city/municipal levels);
• establish a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) per
barangay or cluster of barangays, and city/municipal
centralized MRF;
• close open dumpsites and convert into controlled
dumpsites by 2004 (city/ municipal levels); and
• ban controlled dumpsites by 2006 (city/municipal levels).
12. WASTE DISPOSAL – A MAJOR ISSUE
• waste contains pathogens that commonly cause diseases;
• garbage piles, besides being foul and unsightly, are breeding
grounds of bacteria, and insects which are carriers of various
types of diseases;
• improperly discarded waste can contaminate sources of drinking
water; can affect marine resources, tourism, and destroy our
environment.
Waste disposal is a major
issue that confronts Local
Government Units (LGUs)
due to the health and
environmental risks
associated with waste
because:
