This doodle was captured on site at Shopper Insights in Action 2013 by Dr. Jason Fox of Make Clever Happen, and explores The Future of Shopper: How Digital Changes Everything, but Not In the Way You Might Think. For more information, visit http://www.shopperinsightsevent.com. Walker Smith, Executive Chairman, THE FUTURES COMPANY, observes the “e” in e-commerce now stands more for “everywhere” than just “electronic” and the old linear path to purchase is fast becoming history. Smarter consumers and technological advances are creating a more complex, less linear path to purchase, with multiple touch points and moments of truth. Walker presents this futurist tour of what to expect from shoppers and the retail landscape and the key implications for brands and businesses operating in this future environment.
The human brain has phenomenal power in its ability to understand written language even when letters are scrambled, as long as the first and last letters of each word remain the same. Research at Cambridge University found people can still read sentences where interior letters are scrambled because the brain processes words holistically rather than individually. Optical illusions demonstrate how perception is influenced by expectations and prior experiences rather than objective reality, as images may appear to move or change shape depending on how the viewer focuses their attention.
The human brain has phenomenal power in its ability to understand written language even when letters are out of order, as long as the first and last letters are in the right place. The brain does not read each letter individually but perceives words as a whole. Various optical illusions demonstrate how the brain can perceive images that are not really present or can be tricked into seeing motion where there is none. Some illusions appear to show that different people may use different hemispheres of the brain for certain tasks like determining the direction of rotation for an image.
The document discusses the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA), a voluntary multi-stakeholder program that aims to develop mine site standards and a third party verification system to promote responsible mining practices. The IRMA standards address issues like indigenous rights, environmental protection, labor rights, human rights, and transparency of revenue and contracts. While still a work in progress, IRMA has the potential to deliver a credible verification system to evaluate minesites and ensure they meet comprehensive social and environmental responsibilities.

This document summarizes a scholar's challenge to E.O. Wilson's ideas about human nature in his book On Human Nature. The scholar questions whether Wilson sufficiently considers the role of culture and nurture versus nature alone. The scholar also speculates that repeated ice ages may have necessitated human genetic and cultural co-evolution, including the development of bipedalism in early human tribes for survival. The document references debates around nature versus nurture, artistic creation versus scientific thinking, and includes images related to human behaviors, cultures, and evolution.

This document discusses social entrepreneurship and social enterprises. It provides statistics on the size and growth of the social enterprise sector in the UK. It explores trends like empowering communities and encouraging social responsibility. It emphasizes the importance of having a clear social purpose beyond profit. Innovation, ownership models, measurement of social impact, and challenges in accessing finance and building capabilities are also covered. The document advocates bringing business skills to help social organizations operate sustainably and maximize their social impact.
Our brains are wired to make most decisions automatically through emotional and social influences rather than rational deliberation. Priming, social norms, sensory language and who communicates messages can all subtly shape behaviors. A study found that telling hotel guests 75% of others reused towels was more effective at encouraging reuse than messages about saving the environment. Understanding how the unconscious mind works allows for better influencing behaviors.
The circulatory system transports nutrients, water, oxygen, and waste throughout the body using blood, blood vessels, and the heart. Oxygen-rich blood is carried from the heart to body cells via arteries and returns to the heart via veins as oxygen-poor blood. The heart pumps blood in two separate circuits - the pulmonary circulation transports blood to the lungs to receive oxygen and the systemic circulation transports oxygenated blood to all body tissues before returning to the heart.
This document provides an overview of the biology of behavior and the nervous system. It discusses neurons and how they communicate via neurotransmitters and action potentials. It describes the structure and functions of the central nervous system including the brainstem, thalamus, limbic system, and cerebral cortex. It also covers the endocrine system and tools used to study brain activity like EEG, MRI, fMRI, and PET scans. Key topics include neural communication at synapses, the roles of different neurotransmitters, lateralization of brain functions, and brain plasticity.
This document provides an overview of different perspectives on personality, including psychodynamic, humanistic, trait, social/cognitive, and self theories. It summarizes key aspects of Freudian psychodynamic theory, including the id/ego/superego model of personality, psychosexual stages of development, defense mechanisms, and the concepts of the unconscious. It also briefly discusses neo-Freudian theorists and evidence that has updated some of Freud's ideas. Finally, it summarizes humanistic perspectives on personality from Maslow and Rogers, focusing on self-actualization and conditions that support healthy growth.
This document provides an overview of classical and operant conditioning. It defines classical conditioning as learning through association, where a neutral stimulus becomes associated with an unconditioned stimulus to elicit a response. Operant conditioning is defined as changing behavior through consequences, where behaviors followed by reinforcement increase in likelihood. Examples of classical and operant conditioning are described, including Pavlov's experiments with dogs and Skinner's research using operant chambers.
This document provides an overview of key concepts in motivation and emotion from Chapter 10 of a psychology textbook. It discusses several theories of motivation, including drives and incentives, seeking optimal arousal levels, and Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Specific motivations like hunger and belonging are explored in more depth. The roles of arousal, behavior, and cognition in emotion are also introduced. Physiological and cultural influences on both motivation and emotion are examined.
The document discusses models of memory and how it works. It describes:
1) The Atkinson-Shiffrin model which proposes that stimuli are encoded into sensory memory briefly before being rehearsed in working memory and stored in long-term memory.
2) Dual-track processing with both explicit memories formed through effortful encoding and implicit memories formed automatically without awareness.
3) Encoding involves attention, rehearsal in working memory which can hold around 7 items briefly before decay, and effortful strategies like chunking, mnemonics and distributed practice to facilitate long-term storage.
This document discusses stress, health, and human flourishing. It covers topics like the stress response system known as the General Adaptation Syndrome, psychoneuroimmunology and how stress can impact illness, and the relationship between stress and diseases like AIDS, cancer, and heart disease. Personality factors like Type A personality and pessimism are also discussed in the context of how they may increase stress levels and health risks.
This document summarizes key aspects of gender and sexuality from a biological and social perspective. Biologically, gender is determined by sex chromosomes and influenced by sex hormones. Men and women differ in their timing of puberty, physical characteristics, and risks for certain mental health issues. Culturally, gender roles shape the behaviors expected of each sex, though these roles vary across societies and are also influenced by individual factors. The document also discusses gender identity, sexual orientation, hormones' effects on behavior, and cultural influences on sexuality.
This document provides an overview of key topics related to thinking and language from a chapter in a psychology textbook. It discusses how concepts are formed using prototypes rather than strict definitions. Problem solving strategies like trial and error, algorithms, heuristics and insight are explained. Common obstacles to effective problem solving like confirmation bias, fixation, and heuristics are also reviewed. The role of intuition in judgment and decision making is covered along with cognitive biases like the availability heuristic, overconfidence effect, and belief perseverance that can influence intuitive thinking. Framing effects on judgment are also summarized.
Corruption exists in many forms in India including administrative, political, grand, and petty corruption. Administrative corruption alters policy implementation while political corruption influences lawmaking. Grand corruption involves large sums of money and high-level officials, and petty corruption uses smaller bribes with low-level officials. Weak institutions, lack of democracy, and unfair elections contribute to corruption in India. Proposed solutions include implementing the Lokpal bill, establishing anti-corruption agencies, increasing punishments, and raising public awareness through campaigns. While corruption remains an issue given India's developing systems, collective efforts can help reduce this problem over time.
This document provides an overview of key concepts in sensation and perception, as presented in a PowerPoint by Jim Foley. It discusses the senses and how sensory information is processed by the brain to form perceptions. Specific topics covered include the distinction between sensation and perception, thresholds, sensory adaptation, perceptual set, effects of context and emotion on perception, vision and color perception, visual processing in the brain, and how perceptual organization allows us to interpret sensory input.
DBT is a treatment for borderline personality disorder that combines cognitive behavioral therapy with mindfulness practices. It aims to help patients regulate their emotions and improve their interpersonal relationships through weekly skills training groups, individual therapy sessions, phone coaching, and therapist consultation meetings. Key aspects of DBT include balancing acceptance of patients with strategies to induce change, validating patients' experiences, and teaching skills for mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation.
The human brain has an amazing ability to understand written language even when letters are jumbled within words, as long as the first and last letters are in the right place. This is because the brain does not read each letter individually but recognizes words as a whole. Optical illusions can confuse the eyes and brain by creating visual phenomena that appear to move, change shape, or disappear depending on how long they are focused on. Young children may not recognize intimate images because they lack associated memories, while corrupted minds can find suggestive images where others see only innocent scenes.
Sigmund Freud and The Psychoanalytic Therapy 101Russell de Villa
Pretty much a 'simple' presentation showing the concept of Freud's Psychoanalytic Theory and a couple of techniques that come along with it. Used only for more 'advanced' learners in the field of Psychology.
This was presented on my Masteral Class on the subject: Seminar on Group Counseling and Psychotherapy. Feel free to edit, add your info, and even tweak the presentations to your desire.

The document summarizes the structure and function of the major parts of the brain. It describes the cerebral cortex as having sensory, motor, and association areas. It then discusses the four main lobes of the brain - the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes - and describes the primary and association areas within each lobe. The primary areas are responsible for basic sensory and motor functions, while the association areas integrate information for higher cognitive processes.
Sigmund Freud believed that people should strive to be in harmony with their complexes rather than try to eliminate them, as complexes are what guide human behavior. Freud developed many influential theories of psychoanalysis, including the concepts of the id, ego and superego; defense mechanisms; the interpretation of dreams; and the Oedipus complex. Although some of Freud's ideas seem abstract, the foundations of modern psychology are based on his theories of the human psyche.
Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis. He studied under Jean-Martin Charcot and was influenced by his work with hypnotherapy. Freud went on to develop techniques such as free association and dream analysis. He proposed concepts including the unconscious mind, defense mechanisms, and the tripartite model of the psyche consisting of the id, ego, and superego. Freud published influential works such as The Interpretation of Dreams and established psychoanalysis as a school of thought, though some of his theories faced criticism regarding their scientific basis.

markt.
Vooral net afgestudeerde artsen, verpleegkundigen,
dezelfde periode in 2010. Binnen de industrie is de vraag
naar technici in de food-, transport-, metaal-, en chemi-
sche industrie het hoogst.
