3. The Darkside’s USP
• The dark side is known for its gothic theme, this is evident
from the type of font they use and the use of colours like
black and red which connote the horror genre. Its main
covers consist of various horror film characters with
mixtures of closeups, medium and long shots.
4. Front cover
• Long shot of woman in white,
mid shot of of the woman
covering her neck and close
up of the man. The colours are
very dark and you can see the
use of black and red. Colours
such as orange and blue
contrast this to make it more
appealing to their niche
audience.

media (main one but uses
other publishers)

16-30 males who have interest
in action movies
6. Empire USP
• The magazine is known for publishing superhero
magazines. Spiderman homecoming was one of its
highest grossing magazines. The colours used are usually
those which compliment the colour scheme of the
protagonist of the film or the whole theme of it in general.
7. Front cover example
• The front cover of this
magazine is a star wars front
cover. Kylo res (the
antagonist) is holding a red
lightsaber and the border and
titling compliments that by
having it red too
8. Little white lies
• Type: Mainstream
(internationally distributed
movie magazine)
• Publisher: TCOLondon
• Audience: 16-24 year olds
9. Little white lie’s USP
The design of each issue is inspired by its feature film, often
represented on the cover by an illustration of its lead
actor. This makes the magazine personal to the actor
meaning its specialised styles look more attractable for its
consumers. Also, the magazine’s tend to have a cartoony
affect on them making it seem more appealing.
10. Example of a front cover
• The neon feature and colour
scheme make this magazine
appealing to its younger
audience. The character can
be seen as optimistic and
dangerous with the use of the
hot pink and the turquoise.
The simplicity of the magazine
in comparison to its colour
scheme make the magazine
very artistic and attractive.
