The British Asian Business Community SIG aims to support Asian business leaders in the UK. It notes that Asian-owned businesses contribute at least £74 billion annually to the UK economy and employ nearly 3 million people. However, only a small percentage are represented on FTSE 100 company boards. The SIG objectives are to connect members, develop their skills, and influence greater diversity and inclusion. Key goals include growing membership, holding events and networking opportunities, and increasing the group's social media presence and engagement.

2. British Asian Business Community SIG Overview:
• Businesses run by, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) entrepreneurs annually contribute
at least £74bn to the UK economy
• Asian and minority ethnic businesses make up a sixth of the six million businesses
registered in the UK and employed nearly three million people between 2019 and 2020.
• In 2017, over 50% of FTSE 100 boards (51 out of 100 companies analyzed) had no ethnic
representation on their boards. This compares to 37% of FTSE 100 boards in 2020 (31
out of 83 companies surveyed).
• It is important that inclusivity and diversity develops and evolves in line with social,
economic, and environmental influences.
• Better directors mean better-run businesses. Better businesses mean a better economy.
And a better economy means a better world.
• The IoD Asian Business Community SIG aims to provide a forum for such
connection and advancement.
