Russian forces continue to amass along the Ukrainian border and occupy territories in eastern Ukraine. They consist of over 40,000 troops equipped with tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, and missile systems. Fighting remains most intense in the Donetsk and Mariupol directions, where Russian forces are shelling Ukrainian positions with mortars and artillery. They are also conducting reconnaissance missions and rotating troops in an effort to escalate tensions and undermine Ukrainian defenses. The military situation is assessed as tending towards further escalation of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence published new evidence that the Russian Federation is directly involved in the military conflict in Donbas. One hundred and sixty eight service members of the anti-aircraft unit of the 60th Motorized Brigade have been transported to Novocherkask, Rostov region, for further deployment to eastern Ukraine.
According to the intelligence data, Russian troops are equipped with 30 military vehicles and 21 pieces of military hardware, including Tor-M2U surface-to-air missile system. The weapon has similar characteristics to the BUK missile system that downed Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 on July 17, 2014, claiming 298 lives.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

6. ATO AREA SITUATIONATO AREA SITUATION
Adversary in provocative way keeps tensed situation alongside whole line of
separation. On separate areas adversary tends to repel ATO forces from their positions.
The most intensive firings been reported to take place in DONETSK and MARIUPOL
directions.
In terms of positional defense adversary’s command pays special attention to the
means of fire destruction standby for immediate use to cause ATO forces maximum
losses both on the front line and in the tactical depth of our defense.
There were no signs of the creation of the attack formations.
There is a tendency to gradually increase the duration of attacks for two-three hours
using a wide range of available weapons. In this case, the Russian Armed Forces
command pays great attention to the comprehensive application of intelligence,
electronic warfare assets and fire destruction to cause ATO forces maximum losses.
7. ATO AREA SITUATIONATO AREA SITUATION
SVITLODARSK VYSTUP, AVDIIVKA AND WESTERN DONETSK remain the
main direction of enemy’s efforts, in particular:
high intensity firings towards ATO positions with usage of 120 mm mortars
and 122/152 mm artillery systems. To cover artillery units they use EW systems. The
adversary renewed ammunition supply for frontline units in next directions:
ZAITSEVE, MAYORSK, AVDIIVKA, PISKY, KRASNOGORIVKA, MARYINKA;
rotation and reinforcement of troops close to the line of separation (mostly
with means of fire destruction standby for immediate use). For a higher combat
readiness adversary was involving units of 2 AC in BRIANKA and
KADIIVKA/STAHANOV. The units close to MAKIIVKA were reinforced on the front
positions. In particular, 2 tank platoons were moved to battalion defense position; the
same done with platoon of 122 mm “Гвоздика” self-propelled artillery system and
demining УР-77 “Метеорит” unit. The units of 1 AC assault battalion (MAKIIVKA)
were rotated with units of 1 AC 3rd SOF battalion (DONETSK). All movements are
under control of 1 AC commander.
reconnaissance means activated and reinforced: the aim is to uncover the
organizational structure of ATO defense forces in the tactical depth. Combat
engagement with reconnaissance group been reported in the vicinity of
SEMYGIRYA: the aim was to conduct reconnaissance of VUGLEGIRSK power
station.
8. ATO AREA SITUATIONATO AREA SITUATION
The situation in MARIUPOL direction remains complicated and tends to escalate.
Artillery/mortar units of 1 AC from NOVOAZOVSK and DONETSK were involved to
fire TALAKIVKA, SHYROKINE area.
АЗК-7 artillery reconnaissance complex was used to correct fire suppression.
HANZHENKOVE region is found to be a place of artillery ammunition supply.
In other directions adversary provides:
keeping units on high level of combat readiness;
rotation/reinforcement of troops;
timely ammunition supply.
Reconnaissance means activated and reinforced to uncover the organizational
structure of ATO defense forces in the tactical depth. In order to disclose Ukrainian forces
positions, the enemy actively uses UAVs. For improving the counter battery fire capacity
the enemy deployed “Zoopark – 1” and “Aistenok” artillery reconnaissance and fire
control systems.
9. CONCLUSIONS RESULTING FROM THE SITUATIONCONCLUSIONS RESULTING FROM THE SITUATION
WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF RUSSIANWITHIN THE CONTEXT OF RUSSIAN--UKRAINIAN CONFLICTUKRAINIAN CONFLICT
Situation in the East of Ukraine has a tendency for further escalation.
The enemy continues to shell Ukrainian forces in order to push them from
their positions, inflict casualties and destroy the defense system of our
troops.
