3. ATO AREA SITUATIONATO AREA SITUATION
Donetsk direction
In order to prevent further movement forward and force the ATO units out their
positions, the enemy has taken the following measures:
forward positions were enhanced. Units from the separate assault battalion
(Makiivka) of the 1 AC and sniper teams were moved to the 11 separate
motorized regiment area of responsibility. The regiment reserves are in a stand-
by position;
the firing intensity increased. The firings on the ATO front line units, as well as
those which are in the tactical depth of defense, including Avdiivka, were done by
artillery units of the 11 separate motorized regiment and separate artillery
brigade (DONETSK) of the 1 AC (spotted at the firing positions of MINERALNYI
district). In order to increase the firing capabilities, the tubed and reactive artillery
units, situated in Donetsk, were deployed to the firing positions. In particular, in the
Putylivskyi bridge area the 122-mm howitzer “Hvozdika” artillery battery was
noticed. Counterbattery station was deployed in the area of responsibility of the 11
separate motorized regiment.
In order to disrupt ATO forces actions, the enemy fired at our positions in the
mine area “Butivka” (2,5 km Southwest of the industrial area of AVDIIVKA) and
unsuccessfully was trying to make an assault in this direction.
4. ATO AREA SITUATIONATO AREA SITUATION
Sloviansk direction
Since 25th of January the measures to provide the control over the population
movement were enhanced in the PERVOMAISK, KADIYIVKA and BRYANKA
areas.
The crossing of checkpoints was allowed only for servicemen and civilians with
special permission. Information about intensification of possible combat actions at
the beginning of February is spreading among the personnel of the 6 separate
motorized regiment (KADIIVKA) and local population. It was suggested for locals
of PERVOMAISK and KADIYIVKA settlement to evacuate children and elderly
people deep into the occupied territories and prepare the necessary supplies of
food and drinking water.
5. ATO AREA SITUATIONATO AREA SITUATION
Mariupol direction
The enemy intensified combat actions in Mariupol direction. The fire support
to the forward units of 1 AC was provided by the howitzer artillery batteries crews of
subordinated regiments and a separate artillery brigade (DONETSK).
In order to make assault in SHYROKYNE and VODYANE directions the unit of
the separate assault battalion (Donetsk) of 1 AC moved in the regiment’s area of
responsibility. The ammunition and fuel of forward units were replenished.
UAVs and sabotage groups were used for reconnaissance of ATO forces
positions. “Zoopark-1” and artillery sound reconnaissance system (AZK-7)
were also used.
Because of the combat actions intensification the enemy leadership restricted
access of the OSCE SMM representatives to the forward positions.
The situation in the ATO area remains under control
and has the signs of further escalation.
There is a tendency for increase
of heavy weapons usage.
