The document summarizes the situation in southeast Ukraine and Crimea from June 9-15, 2017. In the occupied territories, Russia cancelled customs fees for goods produced in occupied factories. A conference was held in Donetsk promoting integration of the region into Russia's economy. Retirees in the occupied territories are unhappy with new debt collection policies. By summer's end, only one cell phone provider will remain in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic. In Crimea, Russia uses propaganda to promote the region as part of the "Russian world." The security situation in southeast Ukraine remains tense with increased shelling by Russian-backed forces aimed at pushing Ukrainian forces back from strategic areas.

The document summarizes the security situation in eastern Ukraine and Crimea from March 29th to April 12th, 2017. It notes an increase in Russian propaganda efforts and military activity in the region. Specifically, it reports that Russia has increased its military forces in eastern Ukraine and along the Ukrainian border to 12 tactical battle groups. It also notes Russia's continued militarization of Crimea and plans to further increase its naval presence in the Black Sea. Finally, the summary concludes that given Russia's domestic political and economic challenges, the Kremlin seeks to further destabilize Ukraine through information warfare, economic pressure, and support for separatist forces in eastern Ukraine.
The document summarizes the military situation in Ukraine and Crimea as of May 2017. It notes that Russia continues military exercises and build up near Ukraine's borders while also delaying peace negotiations. Meanwhile, Russia asserts control over Crimea and supports separatist groups in eastern Ukraine in order to destabilize the region. The document concludes that Putin will maintain pressure tactics to undermine Ukraine through military posturing, propaganda, and economic means while avoiding full scale war and seeking international recognition of Russia's claim over Crimea.
Briefing on the situation in the south east of ukraineembassyofukraine
The Russian-backed forces intensified attacks along multiple fronts in eastern Ukraine and took measures to prepare for possible further combat actions. They used tanks, mortars, artillery, and missile launchers in attacks near Severodonetsk, Sloviansk, Donetsk, and Mariupol. Near Donetsk, the enemy enhanced forward positions, increased firing intensity, and unsuccessfully tried to assault Ukrainian positions. In Sloviansk, the enemy tightened movement controls and suggested locals evacuate. In Mariupol, the enemy intensified fire support and moved assault forces, restricting OSCE access. The Ukrainian military assessed that the situation remained under control but showed signs of further escalation and increased heavy weapons usage.
The document summarizes the military situation in southeast Ukraine and Russia's response to recent Ukrainian missile tests. It reports that Russia maintained forces near Ukraine but did not launch attacks. It observed winter training exercises in Russian-backed forces. Tensions increased as Russia monitored Ukrainian missile tests and increased naval presence in response. The document concludes the conflict shows signs of controlled escalation as Russia continues provoking Ukrainian forces.
Russian forces continue to amass along the Ukrainian border and occupy territories in eastern Ukraine. They consist of over 40,000 troops equipped with tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, and missile systems. Fighting remains most intense in the Donetsk and Mariupol directions, where Russian forces are shelling Ukrainian positions with mortars and artillery. They are also conducting reconnaissance missions and rotating troops in an effort to escalate tensions and undermine Ukrainian defenses. The military situation is assessed as tending towards further escalation of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Russia has significantly increased its military presence in Crimea since annexing it from Ukraine in 2014. According to the document, Russia now stations over 70,000 military personnel in Crimea across its army, navy, air force and missile forces. The military forces in Crimea include advanced weapons systems like missile cruisers that can carry nuclear weapons. Recent military exercises in Crimea involved practicing bombing runs and amphibious assaults, demonstrating Russia's capabilities and willingness to use force to protect its interests in the region.
