place, community AMI as well as from our server.

8. AWS Lambda
• Server less component for computing
• Can be triggered based on action or by event
• Invoked and billed only when triggered
• Code can be written Python, Node.js, Go, Java
• Limitation in running time 15 minutes, disk space 512 MB,
deployment package 50MB, Payload size 6MB
• Requires specific IAM roles to perform actions

9. AWS Elastic Beanstalk
• Service for deploying and scaling web applications
developed with Java, .NET, PHP, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go
and Dockers on familiar server such as Apache, Nginx
• We can simply upload our code and it automatically
handles deployment, from capacity provisioning, load
balancing, auto-scaling, to application health monitoring
• Full control over AWS resources powering our application
and underlying resources can be accessed any time
• No additional charge. Pay only for the resources used.

10. S3
• Storage service
• Data stored in bucket with filename being key
• Single Object limit is 5TB
• Persistent storage, file becomes object which is available
through a URL and can be accessed anywhere
• S3 Glacier is used for infrequent and archived data.
• Storage Classes: Standard, Intelligent-tiring, Infrequent
access, Single-zone infrequent access, Glacier, Glacier Deep
Archive
• Use Case: Storing application assets, Static app hosting,
backup and disaster, Staging area for big data, data archive

11. AWS Elastic Block Storage
• Like disk attached to machine in on-premise server
• Data stored as a block
• Can be attached to EC2 server and is used by Amazon RDS
• Fast read and write operation and used for application
which requires high throughput
• SSD based and HDD based storage are available
• Can preserve disk even if we terminate server and attach to
another server

12. Amazon RDS
• Database solution for cloud
• Managed service. No worry on physical server
maintenance, Patch update, backup scripting and HA
clustering
• Different vendor of databases are supported: MySQL, MS-
Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Aurora
• Configuration can be specified and read replica can be
created for load distribution

13. Some Projects
• Host Static Website in AWS S3
• Application that puts file to Amazon S3 in .xml
format, Lambda will then be triggered and store
that file in .csv format in another s3 bucket
• Install database on Amazon EC2 and connect it from
client GUI program
• Take backup of EBS and restore it by expanding
volume
