Breast cancer develops in the breast tissues and can spread to other organs if not treated early. There are two main types of breast cancer - carcinoma ductal in situ and carcinoma ductal invasive. Symptoms include pain in the breasts, changes in size or shape, and the appearance of lumps. Treatment options include local therapies which target specific areas, systemic therapies which target the entire body such as chemotherapy, and chemotherapy uses medicines to destroy quickly dividing cells, but can cause side effects like digestive issues, tiredness, and hair loss. Men can also get breast cancer since both sexes have breast tissues.
