Religious freedom is guaranteed constitutionally but unapproved groups can face prosecution; important religious sites include the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.

- 4. Flag The green field and the yellow rhombus are from the old flag -Green represents the first Emperor of Brazil, -Yellow represents the emperor's wife, -The blue circle has 27 white stars whose position on the flag reflect the sky over Rio de Janeiro
- 5. COAT OF ARMS It has coffee and tobacco branches, which were important crops in Brazil at that time. There are 26 stars representing the different states in Brazil. The blue ribbon contains the official name of Brazil.
- 6. AREA AND POPULATION Brazil has an area of 8,514,877 km2 (5th). The population of Brazil is 203,429,773 people.
- 7. LANGUAGES Portuguese is the official language in Brazil, and is spoken by more than 99% of the population. The minority languages include indigenous languages, and languages of more recent European and Asian immigrants. The population speaks or signs approximately 210 languages, of which 180 are indigenous.
