Tony Guinan Executive Director
Tony Guinan began his relationship with Bothar Boring &
Tunnelling in 1993 after migrating to Australia from Ireland.
With 17 years experience in the oil, gas and trenchless
industry, Tony has been instrumental to the company in driving
major innovations in subsurface technology, and has directly
managed various large-scale projects throughout Australia.
Tony has played a pivotal role in growing the company into
one of Australia’s leading trenchless installation service
providers. Further to this, he has been directly responsible
for the recruitment, training and retention of the firm’s highly
experienced and accredited workforce, as well as expediting
the growth of Bothar Boring & Tunnelling’s equipment fleet.
Steve Mitchell General Manager Australia
Joining Bothar Boring & Tunnelling in 2000, Steve Mitchell
is a civil engineer who boasts an impressive background
in the design and construction of various civil engineering,
water infrastructure, pipeline design and construction, and
trenchless projects in Australia and the United Kingdom.
In addition to supervising the daily activities of the company,
Steve’s role involves providing technical support and project
managing various pipe jacking, auger boring and micro-
tunnelling projects throughout Australia. He is also responsible
for the review and tender of various trenchless projects and acts
as a technical consultant to designers, contractors and clients,
in relation to the design and construction of various types of
tunnelling equipment used by Bothar Boring & Tunnelling.
Further to this, Steve oversees the programming of works and
procurement of materials, as well as organising tunnelling crews
and subcontractors and liaising with clients on a daily basis.
Noel Kerr Executive Director
Noel Kerr has significant experience in all facets of trenchless
installation including tunnelling, micro-tunnelling, auger
boring and HDD in Australia, the Middle East and Europe.
With 25 years’ experience in business ownership, most recently
Noel was the founder and CEO of Diversified Construction
Corporation Pty Ltd (DCC), an oil and gas pipeline construction
and maintenance business which he grew to an annual turnover
in excess of $200 million and profit of circa $15 million.
Noel successfully negotiated the merger of DCC with Walter
Diversified Services Pty Ltd (WDS) in 2006, becoming a founding
shareholder of the newly established company. Upholding his
role as CEO for the next two years, Noel was an integral part
of the senior executive management team and in that time saw
WDS secure its listing on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Adam Ibrahim General Manager Middle East
Adam Ibrahim is a mechanical engineer with vast experience
in the project management of various areas of the construction
industry, with a particular emphasis on pipeline and tunnelling
jobs. As Deputy Manager / Project Manager for Thrust
Boring Construction Company in Kuwait, he managed
many contracts and co-coordinated all associated micro
tunnelling and pipe jacking operations and set ups.
In early 2004 Adam became the General Manager of MacCormick
Civil and Tunnelling in the Middle East, leading the company
in negotiations, meetings, conventions and seminars, as well
as liaising with key industry organisations. In addition to this he
provided overall direction and strategic management of the
company’s use of resources, including personnel, technology
and physical assets. Following the acquisition of MacCormick
Civil and Tunnelling by WDS in 2007, Adam was reengaged
to assume a similar role within the restructured firm.

Rehabilitation

Micro Tunnelling and Tunnelling

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
HDD is a technique typically used for long crossings over waterways, gorges and
environmentally sensitive areas, where traditional trenching or excavating is not practical.
Bothar Boring & Tunnelling’s capabilities in HDD permit the placing of pipes or conduits
over considerable distances without disturbing the surface or damaging the surrounding
environment. This method of trenchless technology is suitable for laying water and
