Downloading Text From Bookshare

   1. You will need a folder to download your files.
          With your cursor on your desktop, right click.
          Go to "new" and "folder"
          Name the folder "Bookshare"
   2. Go to bookshare.org and log in.


   3. Search for the book you want through the "books" menu on the right hand
      side.


   4. Click on the book title that you want to get more information.


   5. Click on "I am downloading books for students".


   6. Locate the student on the list.


   7. Choose the format. Typically, you will only have the DAISY or BRF options.


   8. Click on Daisy and a download box will
      appear.




   9. Click on save and a new "save as" box will appear.


   10. At the top of that box there is a pull down for "save in". Navigate to the

folder that you made on your desktop called "bookshare" and open it.


    11. Then click the Save button.


    12. It will pop open a box "Download complete". Click on Open.

    13. This will open the "Bookshare.org Book Unpack". Click on unpack.


    14. This will open another box. Click on Open.


    15. A Daisy Format Preference box will open. Click yes.


    16. A Delete Packed Book box will open. Click yes.


    17. It will then ask if you'd like to open the book now. If you'd like to look at it, it
        will open Victor Reader and open the book in Victor Reader. If you are
        saving this for a student for later, click no.


    18. It will ask if you want to unpack another book. Usually, you will click on no
        unless you have downloaded multiple books and want to unpack them at
        once.


    If you are done downloading books, you can now close the bookshare.org
    website.


Make	
  a	
  Copy	
  for	
  Premier	
  

You may provide a copy of a Bookshare text to a student to use with Premier
Software.


Use the following directions to create your copy:


    1. Open your Bookshare folder on your desktop.

2. You will see several files for each book you downloaded. You will only
      need the file with the "e". It is an html file.




   3. Open the "e" file (double click).


   4. Go to Edit-Select All.


   5. Go to Edit- Copy.


   6. Now open a blank Microsoft Word document.


   7. Go to Edit- Paste.


   8. Go to File-Save.


   9. Locate your "Bookshare" folder on your desktop and save this file there.
      You now have this book in Microsoft Word format.


   10. You could delete all of the other formats at this time (other than the
       Microsoft Word document). Please do not put these on shared folders or
       locations.


   11. To give it to the student to access you can:
             Copy and paste it into their student server file
             Save to a CD
             Save on a flash drive
