Unfortunately, at times even a church can condone sexual immorality. It happens every day now as churches redefine and explain away God's definition of marriage. In his letter to the church of Thyatira, Jesus tells us how seriously he views us calling sin simply "alternative" or "acceptable" or "tolerant" views. In particular, pornography is destroying nations.

XXIII The Return of Jesus Christ in RevelationLenny Hoy
Revelation's depiction of the return of the Savior occupies parts of chapters 19 and 20. My interest in that depiction centers on understanding why it's so brief and, frankly, so devoid of color and detail. My conclusion: John's Revelation serves as a training manual, not a highlight reel of victory parades, as wonderful as they will be. First, we have to endure and overcome . . .
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST Intro.docxFred Gosnell
Introduction to a study of the Revelation of Jesus Christ using bible passages from Old Testament prophets to understand the figurative, apocalyptic language Jesus provided to the apostle John in writing the book. Noting the internal evidence in the book and statements of other apostles to show the early date for its production and its reference to the destruction of Jerusalem. These conclusions are not original to me having been published by others such as Foy Wallace whose work I refer to throughout where I agree with it.

John continues his description of his heavenly vision. There is an individual on the throne holding a scroll in his right hand that is sealed with seven seals. A strong messenger asks who is worthy to open the book and loose the seals, John weeps when no one is found to do so. One of the elders says there is someone and identifies him, A description follows of the actions taken by the individual and those of the four creatures and twenty four elders that were there. There are prayers described and a new song is sung by the large number of individuals there. The individual who is worshipped is noted at thye end of the chapter.

Chapter Fifty-six
Revelation
(8:1-16:21)
4.9 The Seventh Seal: Silence (8:1)
After six seals have released horsemen who bring earthquakes, falling stars, wars and destruction, John reveals that opening the seventh seal is followed by silence.
1When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
The silence seems anti-climactic, yet this silence is truly thunderous. The half-hour of silence represents the Jewish rite of the offering of incense. The next few verses describe the angels in heaven performing the same ritual that the Levitical priests carried out in the earthly temple. Here at the seventh and final seal, we see the liturgy as the great climax. The liturgical prayer of God’s people is more earthshaking than any earthquake, more dramatic than the stars being darkened. The effects of liturgy are far more profound than we could ever imagine.
5. The Seven Trumpets (8:2-9:21)
5.1 The Seven Trumpets (8:2-5)
2Then I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. 3And another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer; and he was given much incense to mingle with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar before the throne; 4and the smoke of the incense rose with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God. 5Then the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and threw it on the earth; and there were peals of thunder, loud noises, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.
The “seven angels” may refer to an ancient Jewish tradition which depicted seven angels standing in the presence of God. In the Book of Tobit, Raphael explains that he is “one of the seven holy angels who present the prayers of the saints and enter into the presence of God” (Tobit 12:15). The names of the other six are not mentioned by Scripture, although it appears that Gabriel might be one of them (see Luke 1:19).
The incense offered symbolizes the prayers of the saints. In the larger context of the rest of the book, it is closely linked with Revelation 5:8, where the prayers of the saints rising to God are also understood as incense.
What does all this mean? It means that the angels offer our prayers to God in heaven. This is one of the reasons Catholics offer prayers to Saint Michael and to guardian angels, asking them to pray for us.
The angel throwing the burning censor down onto the earth is an image of destruction. This is also very similar to Ezekiel’s vision of a “man clothed in linen” who takes heavenly coals out among the city as a sign of judgment (see Ezekiel 10:2-7). Therefore, when the censor is cast down to earth it comes down as fire, with lightning and thunder.
Most people know that fire coming down from heaven is often used in the Bible as a symbol of God’s judgment (see Genesis 19:24; 2 Kings 1:10, 12, 14; Job 1:16; Psalm 11:6). A famous example of this is Sodom and Gomorrah, which were destroyed by fire rainin ...
Jesus is both Judge and Savior. He alone qualifies to punish sin because he alone has paid for it. In the coming Tribulation, he will break the seals to initiate the most terrible calamities ever to hit earth, but he also will get the attention of millions who will trust him because of it. In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
