Education_____________________________________________________________________
Touro College School of Health Sciences, 1990 Bachelor of Science, Physician Assistant Studies New York, NY
Salutatorian and Class President
Passed national certifying exam upon graduation and have fulfilled all requirements to maintain continuous
certification since 1990. I have accrued more than 1500 hours of documented CME. Last re-certification exam
taken and passed in August of 2015.
I have been a preceptor to more than twenty five Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner students.
2. Professional Experience_________________________________________________________
June 2013 – Present
I took a sabbatical from full time employment to attend to family obligations. During this time, I worked locum
tenens for several primary care and urgent care offices in Texas. In June of 2015 my husband and I moved to
McLean, Virginia. I have obtained my Virginia Physician Assistant license and wish to begin working in my new
home state.
May 2011 – June 2013 Family Health Center Carrollton, TX
Primary care provider in a fast paced private practice. Involved in all aspects of patient care across the lifespan,
including: detailed history, physical examinations, development and implementation of treatment plans, prescription
of medication, ordering and interpretation of laboratory tests and diagnostic studies, as well as in-office minor
surgical procedures. After one year of part time employment I was asked to join the practice full time. With a proven
track record of working autonomously, I was often the sole clinical provider while my supervising physician
attended to hospital duties.
September 2010 – August 2012 Pediplace Lewisville, TX
In this very busy clinic I saw patients aged newborn to nineteen years old. I was honored to be part of this wonderful
clinic specifically devoted to serving the uninsured and underinsured pediatric and adolescent community. In a
typical day I would see 20- 25 children with needs ranging from well child visits to garden variety illnesses to
serious issues needing referral to either the ED or a specialist. Pediplace transitioned from paper charts to EMR
during this time, allowing me the opportunity to learn this useful new skill.
August 2007 – July 2010 Family Medicine @ Willow Bend Plano, TX
Working both independently and as a team, my supervising physician and I treated, on average, 50-60 patients a
day. I brought my years of experience in women’s healthcare to the practice, and the doctor shared his extensive
knowledge of urgent care and family medicine with me. Our patient population age range was infant to geriatric.
September 1999 – May 2007 Bloomfield Hills School District Bloomfield Hills, MI
In 1999, the Bloomfield Hills School District school district enrolled approximately 6000 students, but employed no
nurses. Medical care, as well as review and update of student vaccination records, was shouldered by the school’s
office administrative staff. Seeing a need for improvement, I took responsibility for:
- Recruiting parent volunteers to staff health clinics for our 5 pre-schools, 6 elementary schools, 3 middle schools,
and 2 high schools.
- Training approximately 650 volunteers each year to provide first aid and be capable of initiating BLS.
- Establishing clear, written protocols for both emergent and non-emergent medical situations.
- Initiating a uniform system for medical charting.
- Scheduling clinic staff throughout the school year.
- Meeting with school administrators to budget for, and order supplies for the sixteen clinics.
In 2005, I was elected medical representative to the Bloomfield Hills School Board. In this capacity, I was
responsible for reviewing each grade’s health studies curriculum for age appropriateness, accuracy of content, and
relevancy. I left this demanding, but very rewarding position when our family was moved to Texas.
3. February 1997 – June 1999 Sleepy Hollow Medical Group Tarrytown, NY
Surgical privileges at Phelps Memorial Hospital.
Independently managed 10 -15 routine and complex obstetrical and gynecological patients daily.
Surgical first assisting was an expected part of my duties. This included scheduled procedures such as
hysterectomies as well as emergency cesarean sections. I rotated between our three offices, providing care for
widely diverse communities.
I left this most enjoyable position when my family was transferred to Michigan.
March 1995 - January 1997 Silverman Center for Gender Pre-Selection and Infertility White Plains, NY
Surgical privileges at White Plains Medical Center.
Personally responsible for detailed medical and sexual history taking, physical examination of both genders,
ordering and evaluating blood work for endocrine and hormonal status, referral for hysterosalpingogram,
performing in office semen analysis, sonograms, initiating ovarian stimulation, appropriately timed inseminations,
and assisting with egg retrieval. I also learned the complex and labor intensive Ericsson technique for gender pre-
selection.
Routinely assisted with laparotomies, fallopian tube repair, and myomectomies.
October 1990 - February 1995 Hudson Valley Ob-Gyn Cortlandt Manor, NY
Surgical privileges at Hudson Valley Hospital Center.
I was hired directly out of PA school. I had the good fortune to work with three doctors who freely shared their
knowledge and helped me hone my critical thinking and technical skills. During the next five years I developed a
large patient base of my own, became the first Physician Assistant to be granted hospital privileges at Hudson
Valley Hospital Center and began assisting with surgeries.
