Fractions are numbers that
represent a part of the whole.
When an object or a group of
objects is divided into equal parts,
then each individual part is a
fraction.

3. A fraction is usually written as 1/2 or 5/12 or
7/18 and so on. It is divided into a numerator
and denominator and it expressed as a
quotient of the form

where, d is called the
denominator ( the equal parts into which the
whole has been divided).
And n, is called the numerator ( the number
of parts that is taken).

4. CONVERTING DECIMALS TO PERCENTAGE
For example:
In the fraction

3 is the numerator and 4 is the
denominator.
Take note: A fraction is said to be in
lowest terms or in simplest forms if the
greatest common factor of n and d is 1.
Two or more fractions are said to be
equivalent if they have the same
simplest form.

5. Fractions which have the same denominator are said to be
similar fractions, otherwise, they are called dissimilar fractions.
