In 2015, the Blue Origin team executed the first unmanned flight test of the New Shepard system, a reusable vertical-takeoff, vertical-landing vehicle that’s been to space and back. Amid a successful launch, New Shepard pulled space closer to humanity, cutting the distance between earthlings and the great beyond. With room to fit six people aboard, New Shepard offers a comfortable, weightless experience with unparalleled views out of the largest windows in space, payload lockers for experimentation, and a frequent flight schedule. But did you know that many parts of New Shepard were designed with tools built on AWS? Blue’s next generation engine, BE-4, and our orbital, two-stage launch vehicle, New Glenn, are also being designed leveraging the capabilities of AWS. Join us to learn more about how AWS has powered robust analytical tools to be hosted in the cloud.

About the Webinar
Cloud-native applications are distributed and decentralized by design, composed of dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of APIs connecting services deployed across cloud, on-premises, and edge environments. Without an effective API strategy in place, API sprawl quickly gets out-of-control and becomes unmanageable as the number of APIs in production outpaces your ability to govern and secure them.
In this webinar we explore trends that are accelerating API sprawl and look at some well-established best practices for managing, governing, and securing APIs in distributed environments. Our presenters also demo how to use API Connectivity Manager, part of F5 NGINX Management Suite, to streamline and accelerate your API operations.

We discuss engineering and scientific computing in the Cloud. Users today have three major choices of computing: workstations, servers, and cloud. We compare benefits and challenges of each, and present a solution: the online UberCloud community, experiment, and marketplace for engineers and scientists to discover, try, and buy compute power on demand, in the cloud. Our approach of application containerization and tight software/hardware integration removes many of the known cloud roadblocks.
There are many reasons why firms need to model the exterior contour of existing aircraft OMLs (Outer Mold Lines). Most aircraft flying today were not designed in a modern 3D CAD program. Even with a current 3D digital design, the actual as-built contour deviates from the intended shape, at least at some level.
Direct Dimensions has used a wide variety of 3D measurement equipment and software for nearly 15 years to accurately capture and model these shapes for many different applications and purposes. This presentation will focus on the evolution of 3D scanning equipment and software through many examples with emphasis on practical application, costs, schedules, deliverables, etc.
Having real world customers that demand higher quality and lower price over time for this application, Direct Dimensions has continually searched for the best tools and methods for performing these projects. This experience and perspective will be freely shared with the audience in order to develop an appreciation for the selection of such tools for these projects.

Navigating Disaster Recovery in Kubernetes and CNCF Crossplane Carlos Santana
In Crossplane, deploying resources using GitOps (ArgoCD) is straightforward, but disaster recovery is a different ballgame. When calamity hits, you can't just spin up a new Kubernetes cluster, point it to your Git repository, and expect a 'magical' restoration. This talk will demystify the notion that disaster recovery is 'magic' by exploring various strategies tailored for different levels of disasters using Velero.

Kubernetes Multitenancy Karl Isenberg - KubeCon NA 2019Karl Isenberg
Cruise has been working on self-driving cars for six years and growing exponentially for most of that time. Two years ago they started using Kubernetes, betting on namespace-level multitenancy to provide isolation between teams and projects. Today they have over 40 internal tenants, 100,000 pods, 4,000 nodes, and… an embarrassing number of KubeDNS replicas.
This session will take you through the motivations, story, and results of migrating to multitenant Kubernetes, along with some hard-earned Pro Tips from the trenches.
You’ll also learn about the open source tooling they built around Spinnaker, Vault, Google Cloud, and Istio in order to integrate with our multitenant Kubernetes.
Come see how they went from barely isolated to very isolated and saved a few million dollars doing it!
