Pamela Goodwin shares 25 life hacks she has learned over her career in business. Some of the key lessons include constantly learning new skills, asking customers for business directly, maintaining regular contact with clients through various channels to keep their business, and being persistent even when facing rejection or obstacles. She emphasizes focusing time and energy on high-value tasks, managing expectations, taking action instead of just thinking about it, and having fun in one's work. The overall message is that success comes from ongoing learning, strong client relationships, persistence, and enjoying the journey.

Life Hacks I Have Learned along the Way
I have spent many years learning about multiple businesses, and I have stores of
knowledge that would make an MBA professor blush.
Here are some life hacks I have learned along my personal journey to success. These
are things that take years to learn, so study them carefully, and reap all the benefits.
1. Keep learning and growing every day. Do research on social media tips on
YouTube, becoming a better speaker, take a class on something you know
nothing about, and read a chapter in a book every day. Never stop learning new
things.
2. Ask for the order. Don’t be afraid to ask your customer or client for the business.
Ask them how they “feel” rather than what they “think” about what you are
selling.
3. Touch your customers every day or someone else will. This goes for in business
and your home life. Use a variety of touches in business – phone, email, personal
note card, send a small gift, deliver a message and be creative.
4. Today is a brand new day. Don’t think about the past or even yesterday – move
on!
5. Pick up the phone. Always amazed how much more information you can gather
while talking to the other person on the phone and usually triggers new ideas
and more business.
6. Time is money. Everyone only has 1,440 minutes in a day. Once you know what
your value is per minute you will quickly not waste any of them.
7. Do not worry about stuff you cannot control. Sometimes the longer you fight at
something you cannot control the more you wast time and always remember #6.
2. 8. Sale the sizzle. List the top three reasons your service or product is better than
anyone else’s.
9. You only have two things—Time and Information—so do not give either of them
away. Sometimes this can be a tough one, but remember to think like an
attorney. They bill for every second of their time!
10.Be the go-to person. What is the #1 reason people come to you? Be a specialist
and not a generalist! A cardiologist makes a lot more money than a general
doctor.
11.Know when to move on. Sometimes people will waste your time and will never
buy from you. Learn to know when to move on and if they want it bad enough
will come back.
12.Persistence pays off. Most people give up too soon. If you want something bad
enough you will have the persistence to see it through until the very end of what
you want.
13.Be your own boss. Never work for anyone else!
14.Manage your clients’ expectations. Set this up front from the very beginning and
no one will be disappointed.
15.Ask the right questions. The more you ask the more you will know!
16.Take action, and follow through. Nothing gets done if you only think about it!
You must take action and results will follow.
17.The best client is a repeat client. Have the right client is much easier than having
to find a new one! Keep in touch after the sale and continue to find solutions for
your customer/client.
18.Be unique and memorable. Don’t be average. Stand out and have people
remember you. We once sold colored baby chicks. The yellow ones sold for one
cent and if we colored them we sold for 50 cents each.
19.Do not put it off—do it today. Remember tomorrow may never come. Do it now!
Like Nike says, “Just Do It!”
3. 20.Never, Never, Never give up. Sometimes it seems it may be easy to quit, but if
you hold on a little longer you may be surprised that what you thought would
never happen comes true.
21.Fortune is in the follow-up. Most sales people give up after two attempts and it
typically takes between 7-10 follow-up before you turn a customer into a client.
Don’t forget to call, email, or send a note.
22.Respond is positive; react is negative.
23.Keep trying; it will pay off if you want it bad enough. Try a different approach if
the first or second attempt does not work for you. Be creative.
24.Time pressure makes us act without thinking for the fear of losing out. Think of
the day before Thanksgiving shopping to buy a discounted television on sale.
25.Have fun! Always enjoy having fun at what you are doing!
