The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

blessed virgin of trompone.docx
1. In Study of Mariology & Roman Catholicism:
BLESSED VIRGIN OF TROMPONE
(Mother of the Healers)
On June 26 (1562), in Moncrivello (Italy), the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared on top of a
stump of a chestnut tree (and in Italian, it’s called “trumpa” or “trumpone”, that refers to
the “dead cut tree”).
The visionary who witnessed the Marian apparition was Domenica di Miglianotto, an
Italian Catholic peasant woman who was born a hunchback, who stuttered, and had
epilepsy.
Although born physically imperfect, who lived her life in suffering and sadness because
she was not considered as beautiful as the other women; however, she consoled
herself only with prayer, by praying perfectly the Holy Rosary of the Virgin Mary & the
Child Jesus, to achieve that spiritual perfection of dependence upon the Mother of God.
It was a sunny day, when she was walking along a path alone as always, praying the
Holy Rosary as often as possible; when suddenly, she saw an extremely vivid light on
top of the stump of a cut dead tree.
And there, above the dead tree’s stump appeared the Blessed Virgin Mary carrying the
Baby Jesus in her arms, who smiled lovingly at her, and welcomed her.
And then, mysteriously, she felt some healing life flow within her poor body, and then
her back straightened that she could stand up straight, then her tongue was unbound,
and all her ills had miraculously went away that she became perfectly healthy.
She felt completely cured, that she gave thanks and gratitude to the Blessed Mother
Mary & the Child Jesus who helped her become well again.
The Blessed Mother Mary asked her that a Church be built on the “Trumpone”, so as to
cover the dead tree that was already cut by the lumberjacks (or woodcutters); and from
there she would be able to become a distributor of divine graces to the suffering poor.
News of the miracle had spread so quickly in the nearby rural towns, and then the
visionary woman became well-known, because her healing was evident to everyone.
She also became famous to many of the majority peasant common people, because
they remembered her as some weak woman, but then, the Virgin Mary & her Child
Jesus healed her to become their strong motherly leader of the Family Church.
2. Soon, the poorer common people flocked to the cut tree, called “Trompone”, to invoke
the Blessed Virgin Mary’s intercession to the Child Jesus (The Holy Son of God the
Father), and they brought all the sick to the Marian apparition site to be healed.
New miracles soon occurred; such as the blind who were healed to see, the lame was
healed to walk and run, the deaf could hear clearly, and the dumb could already speak
what they need to say, and those stricken by various illnesses among all the other
common people became cured.
The healed visionary woman, who became the common people’s leader, was able to
form a Marian group in devotion to the Virgin Mary & the Child Jesus as the “Mystical
Body of Christ” (and they continued to live a holy spiritual life among the peasant
families).
But then the Roman Catholic clergy found out about the Marian apparition and the
healings, and so they took over the apparition site, while the healed woman and her
followers then became a (Marian) Catholic Church somewhere among the family
homes.
A few months later, on August 19, the Roman Catholic clergy and the people of
Moncrivello gathered in a Marian procession to the “Trompone” (or the “cut dead tree”).
And with a mobile altar placed beside the cut tree, the Roman Catholic priest Father
Giovanni Battista Ferraris celebrated the solemn Mass “in honor of God and the Most
Holy Virgin Mary”, that included all the wealthy noble families in the region.
The priest’s mass included the consecration of the communion bread to the “Body of
Christ” for the Holy Communion; and the ceremony was concluded with the installment
of the cornerstone to build a large-scale Roman Catholic Church building.
Then the “Marquis of Moncrivello”, one of the wealthy noble feudal landlord families in
control of the lands of the peasants, and connected to the Roman Catholic priest, has
informed the Roman Catholic Pope (in Rome) about the miraculous events at the
“Trompone”.
Then the Roman Catholic Pope responded with a Papal Bull that recognized the healing
of the peasant woman, and then he made a record of the devotion and healing miracles
generated by the occurrence of many favors obtained during her leadership.
And then he authorized the building and construction of the church “without the
obligation to even request a license to the Ordinary (judge or bishop authorities) of the
town”.
3. After the large-scale Roman Catholic Church building was completed, it was named
“The Shrine of the Blessed Mother of the Trompone”; however, no healing miracles
were explicitly reported thereafter.
Then the Pope granted a plenary indulgence to all the faithful to visit the church for the
feast of the “Divine Mercy Sunday”, celebrated on Sunday after “Easter” (as the most
important festival of the Christian Church, that celebrate the resurrection of Jesus
Christ, after He was crucified by the Romans).
The statue of the “Blessed Virgin Mary of Trompone” depicts Mother Mary carrying the
Child Jesus, while both wears gold crowns, and the Blessed Mother seemed to be an
expectant mother.
Below the Mother & Child statue would be a dark cloud with three baby (cherub) angels,
and beside them would be the two images of the visionary - one would be the “before”
image (when she was ill), and the “after” image (when she became well and upright).
