This document discusses time management and the results of tracking tasks over two days using the time management quadrant. The quadrant divides tasks into important/urgent; important/not urgent; not important/urgent; and not important/not urgent. For day one, the majority of tasks fell into the important/not urgent quadrant. For day two, time spent in the not important quadrants increased. On average, 60% of time was productive, 10% was wasted, and 20% could be better spent. Strengths included prioritizing and breaking goals into smaller tasks, while weaknesses were procrastination and activities that avoid responsibility. The conclusion is to spend less time on relationship-building activities that waste valuable time.

These are the slides (including the exercises) from a 1-day workshop I designed, which covered a range of skills and tools to help managers cope with an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world.
This tool helps management and/or evaluator to engage collaborative groups in a dialogue about sharing priorities, values and goals, establishing “ground rules” and consenus based decision making process. It helps to frame and ask the right questions, whether that’s at the beginning of the project or when assessing performance and agree next steps. It combines different approaches and tools: cooperative learning, appreciative inquiry, carousel brainstorming, action priority matrix…

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

3. Project Purpose
•
To evaluate self efficiency by:
•
•
•
1st. Recording every event in a two day time frame.
2nd. Analyzing each event and where they classify on the time
management quadrant.
3rd. Reflecting on the gathered information and possible improvements.
4. What is Time
Management?
•
•
•
•
Preserving and enhancing relationships and on accomplishing results.
Begin with the end in mind.
Focuses on what you want to be and to do and on the values or principles
upon which being and doing are based.

I. Important/Urgent
Crises; Pressing problems;
Deadline-driven projects.
II. Important/Not Urgent Centered
Activities; Planning; Prevention;
Relationship building; Opportunity

True Recreational Activities.
III. Not Important/Urgent
Imminent pressing matters; "Popular"
Activities (i.e., activities that you think will
make you popular with others); Personal
Interruptions; Some calls and mail;
Certain meetings and reports.
IV. Not Important/Not Urgent
Time wasters; So called "Pleasant"
activities that are not really pleasant (e.g.,
drinking to excess) that are actually
escapes from responsibilities. Trivia,
busy work. Some types of mail/phone
calls.
This quadrant is used to compare what task are being done with there relevant importance
to achieving personal objectives.

Average of day one and day two
Facts:
•About 60% of my time is productive.
•About 10% of my time is a complete
waste.
•About 20% could be spent more
wisely.
9. Strength
•The reason I spent allot of my time in Quadrant Two is because I prioritize all
tasks.
•I set deadlines and make sure I complete at least halve the project well before
my deadline.
•I constantly make lists of small
things to do each day, and longterm lists to keep
track of goals.
•When working on long term goals I divide them into tasks that can be
completed quickly.
11. Conclusion
•
Facts learned
•
•
•
60% of my time is spent efficiently
20% of my time is wasted
Action to be taken
•
It is necessary that I remove myself from situations that build
relationships but cost me valuable time to achieve important tasks.
