This document outlines the topics that will be covered in an introductory biology course across the fall and spring semesters. In the fall semester, topics will include the scientific method, water properties, organic molecules, cell components and functions, cellular transport, cellular respiration, photosynthesis, cell division, and basic genetics. The spring semester topics in the first half are natural selection, evolution, history of life on earth, plant evolution and structure, and ecosystems. The second half of the spring covers body systems, muscle function, skeletal structure, digestion, nutrition, respiratory and circulatory systems, and the nervous system.
