It’s been a remarkable journey the past 5-6 years. Bing just recently turned 5 and we’re thrilled at the progress we’ve made so far in such a short time.
We launched Bing in 2009 and shortly after announced the Search Alliance with Yahoo
In 2012 we rebranded our ad platform from adCenter to Bing Ads and deepened our integration across Microsoft devices and services. Powering Smart Search in W8/8.1, search on Windows Phone, Xbox and Office. Total market share for YBN is nearly 30% and is still today.
This year we continued to grow our reseller program and partnered with key companies to get Bing into more devices (Bing on iOS and Spotlight on MacOS, default search on Kindle devices) and we introduced Cortana and our total market share for the Yahoo Bing Network is nearly 30%
While we’ve accomplished a lot since Bing launched, there’s so much more to do. Looking beyond this year, you’ll see us continuing to build a better (faster, easier, more efficient) ad platform and expanding the idea of “Bing as a platform.” We don’t want you to think of Bing a search engine but rather a platform that provides intelligent services across Microsoft and partners. And finally you’ll see us invest heavily in mobile and think about how to better monetize the mobile experience, like Cortana.
