What the 2016 deadline means for manufacturers, and a new consistent process for sharing product data
This document discusses what clients want from manufacturers regarding building information modeling (BIM). It notes that the UK government aims to reduce project costs by 20% through strategies like BIM, early contractor involvement, and improved client leadership. BIM can help drive down whole-life cycle costs by 30% and deliver projects 50% faster by facilitating collaboration and data sharing between stakeholders. Clients want a BIM-capable supply chain that can work with them through all stages from project inception to facility management. If implemented properly, BIM provides a means to achieve better time, cost, and quality outcomes across a building's lifespan.

Problem Solving and Product Delivery with FME in a Survey / Engineering companySafe Software
The presentation will explore some of the diverse ways we are using FME in Focus Corporation a Western Canada Survey / Engineering Company.
Some problems we are solving using FME I will discuss include:
- Conceptual 3D Site Plans http://www.focusprojects.ca/3d-services/conceptual-3d.html
- Automated GIS to CAD / WebGIS Conversion
- LiDAR data manipulation from UTM to Project coordinates
- Project Tracking using Excel and KML
- Large Pipeline Survey Project - Tracking and Visualization in Google Earth (Mashes up Trimble Job Book data, Georeferenced Photos, Garmin GPX data)
- Internal FME Server Applications - Base Data Clipping, Automated creation of KML files from a directory of photos, Data Conversion
The presentation will emphasis how Focus is starting to view FME as "THE" problem solving tool. We are finally able to address production and workflow issues that simply seemed to difficult to solve with just CAD or GIS software.
I analyze Anoushiravan Ghamsari in two steps: first his place in architecture and next his accomplishments in combining architecture and civil engineering. I think they are both consistent with each other, despite that I’ve always known him for his place as a architect and an outstanding teacher and has been effective in its academic performance at saint Petersburg and his unique style. Anoushirvan has his own place and his fruits of labor are many and each has an important place in our community’s architecture.
This document discusses Building Information Modeling (BIM) with a focus on healthcare applications. It provides an overview of BIM, describing it as a 3D model-based collaboration process. The document outlines key drivers for BIM adoption like government policies, lean construction principles, and sustainability goals. Benefits of BIM include improved coordination, clashed detection and reduced waste. A case study highlights how BIM supported coordination of complex systems in the expansion of Crumlin Hospital. The document concludes with advice for new BIM users and potential future developments like scanning existing buildings.
The document discusses Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its relevance for quantity surveyors and project managers. It provides an overview of BIM, including Level 2 Commercial Suite standards, Employers Information Requirements, and BIM protocols. It also discusses measurement standards like NRM 1-3. The document notes that effective communication is important when quantity surveyors extract cost information from BIM models, as design software and model structure may not directly align with measurement needs. It suggests gaining understanding of how designers approach projects and being aware of any data lost during file exports.

Faraday Battery Challenge webinar series: An update on the UK Battery Industr...KTN
The Faraday Battery Challenge, in partnership with KTN, bring you a series of seminars on defining subjects for the future electrification of transport and other sectors.
The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre is going to be open for business later this year.
The £129m facility – the only one of its type in the world – will be used by companies and organisations with a promising new battery technology or design that they want to scale-up so long as that technology can bring growth to the UK. The technology will be at least as good as that found in any of the battery ‘Gigafactories’ being built across the globe, and will support the growth of electric vehicles and fast-track battery technology for use in rail, aerospace, industrial equipment, automotive, off highway and static energy storage.
Hear Jeff Pratt, Managing Director at the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre speak about the facility and why scale-up is key to fast tracking the development of cost-effective, high-performance, durable, safe, low-weight and recyclable batteries.
