 Is the student becoming proficient in both 
languages.
 Communication- Newsletters, emails, 
conferences 
 Technology- Class web sites, School web 
sites, Online grade checks 
 Getting Volunteers 
 Cultural days
 Use a servey-Ask questions of families to see 
if the strageties that are being used are 
helping. 
 Observations 
 Speaking to parents one on one.
 As a teacher we need to take the lead in our 
classrooms to help build the relationships 
with our students and their parents. We need 
to reach out to our parents and make sure 
that they are informed and get them to be 
aware of what is going on in class. The more 
we can involve the parents the more support 
they can give their students.

This comes from their own experiences, what they have learned from other classes, and what they have learned from others. Being Familiar with the new language. Do they have some kind of proficiency with the new language. They may have a social proficiency and be able to communicate with fellow students but may need to work on their Academic understanding of the language. View of Education. Communication- Come up with a newsletter in both English and your students home language, Communicate with emails to parents who have that capeablility and also meet with parents during conferences. This keeps your student’s parents up todate on whats happening. Technology- Having web sites can pass on important dates for activities and also what is going on in the class and at school. Having parents volunteer will help parents be engaged in the classroom and will help show their student that they like being involved in the education process. Cultural days- Helps celebrate the different cultures that are in your classroom.
