My name is Markie Clift I am a recent graduate from BYU-I and I have graduated with my Associates of Science with a cluster
in Communications and a Bachelor’s degree in International studies with a minor in French. I also have recently completed a
semester abroad studying in France. I am the youngest of three children and was raised with firm morals and values which have
helped shape me into an extremely motivated and hard working person. I am a very quick learner and am always willing to go the
extra mile when it comes to my job. I would love to acquire a position in which I could help others to do their best as well as do

Head Life Guard, 4/01/2015-7/20/2015
As Head Life guard I managed 13 fellow life guards. My responsibilities included creating and managing
the schedule, dealing with all complaints and customer concerns. I was also responsible for hiring of new
guards as well as keeping the staff trained and all certifications up to date. As head guard my responsibilities
also included facilitating conflict resolution among staff members.

As an assistant in the fielddepartment I had opportunities to assist a variety of people in the department.
My position required flexibilityand dependability as well as time management inorder to meet required
deadlines. The position required the ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects at the same
time while maintaining the highest quality of work. This position also offered a great deal of task variety
including simple filing, clerical work, accounting, billing, data entry and helping with potatoes harvest.

As a life guard at BYU-I my responsibilities were different than previous life guard experience. I was often a
solo guard and was required to make critical decisions as events occurred. I would engage directly with the

patrons when issues arose and was given the authority to resolve issues at the time. I was responsible for the
pool facility, insuring cleanliness and safety at all times. I also was a teaching assistant and was able to train
others in CPR, First Aid, and Life Guard certification programs.
CALDWELL YMCA
Head Life Guard, 7/27/2011-1/03/2012
As Head Life Guard I was in charge of all of the life guard staff and the safety of all our patrons.
Responsibilities included resolving patron complaints and patron satisfaction issues. I also worked with the
guard staff to resolve any staff conflicts. I trained all newly hired staff members and was in charge of drilling
and testing all employees on their skill to keep certifications and skills current.

My responsibilities as a lifeguard was to make sure that all patrons were safe and to help them with anything
they may need. I was also responsible for upkeep of the pool deck as well as maintenance as needed. I also
worked with the patrons if concerns or issues arose.

My responsibilities as membership specialist was to greet members and help them feel welcome, help
them check in properlyand help them with any other concerns or complaints they may have, make calls
