The document outlines a presentation on bridging the gap between "best practices" and "context-driven" approaches to test management. It discusses learning objectives around understanding each perspective and applying Goldratt's theory of constraints thinking tools. The presentation will cover examples of using these tools to analyze testing practices and determine what is most appropriate based on different project contexts.
The critical constraint to business growth is not how much money you have but how well your company can create sustainable change in behavior - of leaders, of employees and teams, of customers, of suppliers.
Measuring the Influence of Tag Recommenders on the Indexing Quality in Taggin...Klaas Dellschaft
This presentation is about our paper which was presented at the Hypertext conference 2012. In this paper, we investigate a methodology for measuring the influence of tag recommenders on the indexing quality in collaborative tagging systems. We propose to use the inter-resource consistency as an indicator of indexing quality. The inter-resource consistency measures the degree to which the tag vectors of indexed resources reflect how the users understand the resources. We use this methodology for evaluating how tag recommendations coming from (1) the popular tags at a resource or from (2) the user's own vocabulary influence the indexing quality. We show that recommending popular tags decreases the indexing quality and that recommending the user's own vocabulary increases the indexing quality.

Abstract: In recent literature, several models were proposed for reproducing and understanding the tagging behavior of users. They all assume that the tagging behavior is influenced by the previous tag assignments of other users. But they are only partially successful in reproducing characteristic properties found in tag streams. We argue that this inadequacy of existing models results from their inability to include user’s background knowledge into their model of tagging behavior. This paper presents a generative tagging model that integrates both components, the background knowledge and the influence of previous tag assignments. Our model successfully reproduces characteristic properties of
tag streams. It even explains effects of the user interface on the tag stream.

People factors are often neglected at the expense of technology and process in the IT industry. An argument is made for people factors being the difference between average and great.

TMS Consulting - Fatigue Management: The Next StepsTMS Consulting
Fatigue-related impairment can lead to human error, and subsequently serious accidents. Large-scale catastrophes such as the Three Mile Island nuclear disaster and grounding of the Exxon-Valdez oil tanker both listed fatigue as major contributing factors. Fatigue is implicated in up to 20% of road traffic accidents and also negatively impacts productivity and workforce health.
Little scientific evidence exists pertaining to occupational fatigue in the pipeline industry. This is troubling given the arduous working conditions and long working hours present in many fly-in/fly-out pipeline operations in Australia. In addition, existing prescriptive fatigue management strategies are limited in their ability to control for the complex nature of fatigue and all of its influencing factors. As such, an integrated scientifically driven and data-driven Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) is recommended over traditional (and limited) methods.
To fill this research gap, the Australian Pipeline Industry Association has funded a Fatigue Management Study (FMS) to investigate effective fatigue management strategies in the pipeline industry. Complimentary to this is an industry wide lifestyle and fatigue survey conducted by TMS Consulting. This paper will provide the results of that survey on an industry wide basis along with how it relates to effective fatigue management strategies and outline the benefits of managing fatigue under an FRMS, over traditional or unevolved methods.
It is crucial for businesses to audit their software test processes. This enables management to understand / evaluate if they are being adhered to. In cases where process deviation was accepted, it helps one to evaluate how the risks and impacts were measured and communicated. An audit will uncover what triggers major problems and early warning indicators are set in place to reduce risk.
Mindtree quality and test consulting addresses these issues by providing optimum solutions to help businesses audit their software test process.
Overview of how to transform performance measurement, based on Dr. Dean Spitzer\'s book "Transforming Performance Measurement: Rethinking the Way We Measure and Drive Organizational Success"
The Test Requirements Agile Metric (T.R.A.M. v2.0) is a risk-based, project management methodology for analyzing Quality Assurance requirements and results to determine whether or not a software product is ready to be released. It is also useful for estimation, risk analysis, and functional and defect prioritization.

LF Energy Webinar: Electrical Grid Modelling and Simulation Through PowSyBl -...DanBrown980551
Do you want to learn how to model and simulate an electrical network from scratch in under an hour?
Then welcome to this PowSyBl workshop, hosted by Rte, the French Transmission System Operator (TSO)!
During the webinar, you will discover the PowSyBl ecosystem as well as handle and study an electrical network through an interactive Python notebook.
PowSyBl is an open source project hosted by LF Energy, which offers a comprehensive set of features for electrical grid modelling and simulation. Among other advanced features, PowSyBl provides:
- A fully editable and extendable library for grid component modelling;
- Visualization tools to display your network;
- Grid simulation tools, such as power flows, security analyses (with or without remedial actions) and sensitivity analyses;
The framework is mostly written in Java, with a Python binding so that Python developers can access PowSyBl functionalities as well.
What you will learn during the webinar:
- For beginners: discover PowSyBl's functionalities through a quick general presentation and the notebook, without needing any expert coding skills;
- For advanced developers: master the skills to efficiently apply PowSyBl functionalities to your real-world scenarios.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
