The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission issued an order on March 31, 2015, to determine the benchmark capital cost norm for solar PV and solar thermal power projects for the fiscal year 2015-16. The commission considered various stakeholder inputs regarding module costs, exchange rates, efficiency degradation, and land costs, ultimately retaining the module cost at $0.52/wp. Additionally, the exchange rate was set at ₹62.05/$, leading to a total module cost of ₹332.35 lakh/mw.
