Behaviorism

Important Points on Behaviorism

 Behaviorism is the prediction and control of human
behavior in which introspection and independent
thinking play no essential part of its teaching
  methods.
 Behaviorism is a worldview that operates on a
  principle of stimulus response.
 The learner starts with a clean slate and behavior is
shaped through positive and negative reinforcement.
Ivan Pavlov became
famous for his
experments involving
behaviorism. Pavlov
used conditioning to
teach a dog to salivate
when he rang a bell. The
stimulus was food and
the desired effect was
stimulus when Pavlov
rang the bell. From this
training the dog
eventually in time knew
that when the bell was
rung he would get food.
From this experiment
Classic Conditioning was
formed. From Pavlov’s Ivan Pavlov (1849-1936)
experiments he won the
Noble Peace Prize in
Physiology in 1904.
 B.F Skinner did experiments with
B.F Skinner pigeons and rewarded them when
(1904-1990) they did the correct behavior.
Operant Conditioning
describes learning thar
                            Skinner believed that people
us controlled and reslts shape their behavior based on the
in shaping behaior
through the rewards or positive reinforcement
reinforcement of
stimulus-response
                            they receive. From his
patterns. experiments he decided the
                            reinforcement was the most
                            powerful motivator, if one does
                            something good and is rewarded
                            then they continue the behavior.
Famous for his idea of
socaial learning, which
Bandura renamed Social
Cognitive Theory. His
theory is different from
Skinner’s theory because
he focuses on
motivational factors and
self-refulatory
mechanisms that
influence a persons
behavior. Bandura also
believes that people gain
behaviors through
observation which made
him come up with the
idea of Observational
Modeling which is Albert Bandura (1925-current)
watching something and
then mimicking the
behavior observed.
Behaviorism In The Classroom

                                                 like certain ones.
 Another thing that contributes to kids
behaviors is social media it is used
every single day inside and outside of
                                                 school
In My Own Classroom

 Personally when it is time for me to have my own
classroom I feel as if Behaviorism is a huge impact.
Reason being that children grown from the world around
them and the actions and reactions they see so
observation is a huge deal, it helps mold ones behavior.
Another affect is the idea of training like like B.F. Skinner
did with the pigeons, when the student does something
good they are rewarded and when they do something bad
they are punished. From all the experiments and
observation I think that behaviorism is an important
thing to have in the classroom because each year they
will gain a better idea of what is excepted and what is not
and they would be molded into good behavior.
