“We are incredibly honored to have one of America’s most prolific artists and the world’s long-
reigning ‘King of Blues’ back on our stage,” said John Richard, president and CEO of the Adrienne
Arsht Center. “B.B. KING’s signature mix of expressive singing, graceful riffs and distinctive guitar
sound will undoubtedly leave South Florida audiences in awe. This concert is not to be missed!”
Riley B. King, affectionately known as B.B. KING, has dominated and redefined the musical genre
of blues for more than 65 years with multiple hits such as “Three O’clock Blues,” “The Thrill is
Gone” and “How Blue Can You Get.” As a gifted artist, he is praised for combining traditional
blues, jazz, swing, and mainstream pop into a unique sound. He is also beloved around the world
for his crowd-pleasing showmanship and effortless ability to create an intimate concert experience
at every show.
At 88 years young, B.B. KING’s burning passion for blues remains fueled as he continues to
perform countless sold-out concerts to audiences worldwide along with his trademark Gibson
guitar companion “Lucille.” He explains, “I'm trying to get people to see that we are our brother's
keeper, I still work on it. Red, white, black, brown, yellow, rich, poor, we all have the blues." B.B.
KING is widely regarded as one of the most influential blues guitarists of all time, inspiring
countless other electric blues and blues-rock guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Buddy
Guy, John Mayer, Robert Cray, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Numerous honors, awards, and accolades contribute to B.B. KING’s legacy. In 2012, President
Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted "In Performance at the White House: Red,
White and Blues" – a concert celebration of American blues music in which B.B. King performed
and was honored. Additional achievements include induction to the Blues Foundation Hall of
Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; 15 Grammy
Awards; and a NARAS Lifetime Achievement Award, to name a few. He has also received many
honorary doctorates from esteemed institutions including Yale University and Berklee College of
Music.
