Indian banking sector has grown at a healthy pace over the past decade. Total banking sector assets have increased at a CAGR of 8.83% during FY13–17 to US$ 2.202 trillion in FY17. Both lending and deposits have seen robust growth, with credit off-take increasing at a CAGR of 11.08% and deposits growing at a CAGR of 11.71% between FY07-17. Interest income for the sector has also increased steadily, with public sector banks leading the growth at a CAGR of 7.86% over FY09-17. 'Other income' from fees and commissions has emerged as an important component of revenues for banks.
