• Try to maintain a regular
bedtime and waking time
• Avoid napping
• Keep bedroom
environment cool, quiet,
and dark
• Do not drink caffeine-
containing beverages
after noon.
• Avoid heavy meals just
before bedtime.
• Exercise but not within 1
hour of bedtime
• No TV or computers
• Do something relaxing and
enjoyable before
sleeping.
• Schedule blocked times to give
you time to enjoy yourself
• Take time to think and take time
for yourselves
Some fun ideas:
• Go for a walk or a hike
• Listen to music
• Bubble baths
• Read a book or journal
• Sing, dance
• Paint or draw
• Visit family or friends
• Learn something new (like
playing a new
instrument)
• Go see a movie
• Cook or bake
The heart pumps blood to itself before it pumps it to the rest of the
body – to take care of others, you need to take care of yourself first.
• Build downtime into your
schedule.
• Drop activities that suck
up your time or energy.
• Rethink your errands.
• Get moving.
• Remember that a little
relaxation goes a long way.

Balance

Doing one thing too much can cause upset, like the old saying goes, everything in moderation is the secret!" -Catherine Pulsifer "Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance." -Brian Tracy • Try to maintain a regular bedtime and waking time • Avoid napping • Keep bedroom environment cool, quiet, and dark • Do not drink caffeine- containing beverages after noon. • Avoid heavy meals just before bedtime. • Exercise but not within 1 hour of bedtime • No TV or computers • Do something relaxing and enjoyable before sleeping. • Schedule blocked times to give you time to enjoy yourself • Take time to think and take time for yourselves Some fun ideas: • Go for a walk or a hike • Listen to music • Bubble baths • Read a book or journal • Sing, dance • Paint or draw • Visit family or friends • Learn something new (like playing a new instrument) • Go see a movie • Cook or bake The heart pumps blood to itself before it pumps it to the rest of the body – to take care of others, you need to take care of yourself first. • Build downtime into your schedule. • Drop activities that suck up your time or energy. • Rethink your errands. • Get moving. • Remember that a little relaxation goes a long way.
