 2013년 3월 산타클라라에서 열린 Pycon Conference에서
dotCloud의 창업자인 Solomon Hykes가 The future of Linux
Containers 라는 세션을 발표하며 처음 알려짐
 그 후, 인기를 얻으며 회사 이름을 Docker Inc.로 바꾸고,
2014년 6월 도커 1.0을 발표

The underlying technology
* Namespaces
: provide the isolated workspace called the container
•The pid namespace: Process isolation (PID: Process ID).
•The net namespace: Managing network interfaces (NET: Networking).
•The ipc namespace: Managing access to IPC resources (IPC: InterProcess Communication).
•The mnt namespace: Managing filesystem mount points (MNT: Mount).
•The uts namespace: Isolating kernel and version identifiers. (UTS: Unix Timesharing System).
The underlying technology
* Control groups(cgroups)
: limits an application to a specific set of resources.
* Union file systems
: file systems that operate by creating layers,
making them very lightweight and fast.
* Container format
: Docker Engine combines the namespaces, control groups,
and UnionFS into a wrapper called a container format.
The default container format is libcontainer
Docker Concepts
 Flexible: Even the most complex applications can be containerized.
 Lightweight: Containers leverage and share the host kernel.
 Interchangeable: You can deploy updates and upgrades on-the-fly.
 Portable: You can build locally, deploy to the cloud, and run anywhere.
 Scalable: You can increase and automatically distribute container replicas.
 Stackable: You can stack services vertically and on-the-fly.
Docker Engine
Docker Engine is a client-server application
Docker Engine
The Docker client and daemon communicate using a
REST API, over UNIX sockets or a network interface.

with instructions for creating a Docker
container.

포함하며, 상태값을 가지지 않고
변하지 않음(Immutable)

  • 3. Docker - 역사  2013년 3월 산타클라라에서 열린 Pycon Conference에서 dotCloud의 창업자인 Solomon Hykes가 The future of Linux Containers 라는 세션을 발표하며 처음 알려짐  그 후, 인기를 얻으며 회사 이름을 Docker Inc.로 바꾸고, 2014년 6월 도커 1.0을 발표
