Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

2. 1. Tôi không thể tham dự phỏng vấn theo lịch hẹn. Tôi có thể xin phỏng vấn vào một ngày khác được
không?
Kể từ ngày 29 tháng 3 năm 2008, tất cả những đơn xin cấp thị thực phải được đăng ký, thay đổi, hoặc huỷ trên
mạng thông qua trang web của Lãnh sự quán (nhấp vào trang “Thủ tục nộp đơn xin thị thực” để được hướng dẫn).
Sau khi đăng ký hẹn phỏng vấn, đương đơn có thể thay đổi hoặc huỷ cuộc hẹn vào bất kỳ thời gian nào thông qua
trang web của chúng tôi. Trên trang đăng ký cuộc hẹn, chỉ cần nhấp vào thẻ “Thay đổi/Hủy cuộc hẹn”, nhập vào họ
tên của đương đơn và số xác nhận ID chính thức (lưu ý: ID phân biệt chữ hoa thường (case-sensitive)).
2. Tôi nói tiếng Anh không tốt lắm. Tôi có thể trả lời phỏng vấn bằng tiếng Việt được không?
Có thể.Các viên chức Lãnh sự đều được đào tạo để phỏng vấn bằng tiếng Việt. Bên cạnh đó, chúng tôi còn sắp xếp
nhân viên địa phương phiên dịch cho các đương đơn.
3. Thân nhân hoặc luật sư đại diện của tôi có thể tham dự buổi phỏng vấn xin cấp thị thực của tôi hay
không?
Theo thông lệ quốc tế, không một bên thứ ba nào được phép tham dự buổi phỏng vấn xin thị thực không di dân.
Quy định này cũng áp dụng cho các bên thứ ba là Công dân Mỹ hoặc Thường Trú Nhân Tại Mỹ. Nếu một bên thứ ba
nào đó quan tâm đến trường hợp của đương đơn, vui lòng đề nghị họ viết thư nói rõ mối quan tâm của họ và đương
đơn nên mang theo thư này khi đến phỏng vấn. Những đương đơn nhỏ tuổi có thể đi kèm với ba/mẹ hoặc một người
giám hộ hợp pháp khi đến phỏng vấn.
4. Các đại lý dịch vụ thị thực có thể giúp tôi xin được thị thực hay không?
Không. Đương đơn đừng bao giờ trả tiền cho bất kỳ người nào cho rằng họ có thể giúp bạn có được thị thực. Đương
đơn cũng không nên trả tiền làm giấy tờ giả mạo vì các viên chức Lãnh sự của chúng tôi được đào tạo những kỹ
năng phát hiện giấy tờ giả.
5. “Những ràng buộc tại Việt Nam” được hiểu như thế nào?
“Những ràng buộc” là các khía cạnh cuộc sống của đương đơn ràng buộc đương đơn với nơi mình cư trú, bao gồm
các mối quan hệ gia đình, công việc và tài sản. Trong trường hợp những đương đơn nhỏ tuổi chưa thể thiết lập được
những ràng buộc nói trên, viên chức phỏng vấn sẽ xem xét trình độ học vấn, điểm số học tập, nghề nghiệp của cha
mẹ, và những kế hoạch dài hạn cũng như triển vọng của đương đơn ở Việt Nam. Vì mỗi đương đơn mỗi hoàn cảnh
khác nhau, do đó sẽ không có bất kỳ câu trả lời mẫu nào chứng minh được những ràng buộc này.
6. Nếu như tôi có một lá thư từ một người có chức quyền bảo đảm việc quay trở về Việt Nam của tôi, tôi
có được cấp thị thực hay không?
Một lá thư, kể cả từ người có chức quyền, không nhất thiết chứng minh được những ràng buộc của đương đơn bên
ngoài phạm vi nước Mỹ. Luật pháp Mỹ yêu cầu mỗi đương đơn phải tự mình thuyết phục viên chức phỏng vấn bằng
khả năng của chính mình.
7. Có tốt hơn nếu tôi che giấu việc tôi có bà con thân thuộc đang sinh sống tại Mỹ, hoặc tôi có hồ sơ bảo
lãnh định cư, hoặc tôi đã bị từ chối cấp thị thực trước đây? Sẽ có hậu quả gì xảy ra nếu như tôi giấu
giếm, khai báo sai lệch hoặc nộp giấy tờ giả mạo?
Việc khai báo thành thật, rõ ràng là tốt nhất. Chúng tôi hiểu rằng rất nhiều đương đơn có gia đình, bà con đang sinh
sống tại Mỹ, nhưng đương đơn chỉ muốn thăm viếng họ trong thời gian ngắn cũng như đương đơn đang có hồ sơ
bảo lãnh nhưng chưa có ý định định cư tại Mỹ vào thời điểm này. Do đó, tốt nhất đương đơn nên khai báo thành
thật tình trạng của mình. Khi viên chức phỏng vấn phát hiện đương đơn cố tình giấu giếm hoặc cung cấp thông tin
sai lệch, đương đơn sẽ bị từ chối cấp thị thực và, trong một số trường hợp, đương đơn sẽ vĩnh viễn không được
phép nhập cảnh vào Mỹ.
8. Nếu tôi có đầy đủ các giấy tờ cần thiết, tôi có được cấp thị thực hay không?
Không nhất thiết như vậy. Viên chức phỏng vấn phải áp dụng điều khoản 214(b) của Bộ Luật Di Trú và Nhập Tịch
Hoa Kỳ (INA) để quyết định xem đương đơn có đủ điều kiện được cấp thị thực hay không. Một phần điều khoản này
3. nêu rằng:
Mỗi ngoại kiều (đương đơn xin thị thực) chắc chắn sẽ được coi như có ý định nhập cư cho đến khi đương đơn, vào
thời điểm xin cấp thị thực, thuyết phục được viên chức lãnh sự rằng đương đơn hội đủ điều kiện được cấp thị thực
không di dân. . .
Điều này có nghĩa là viên chức lãnh sự xem xét trường hợp của đương đơn dựa trên tinh thần của điều luật, luôn
xem rằng đương đơn có ý định định cư tại Mỹ cho đến khi đương đơn chứng minh được điều ngược lại. Đương đơn
có thể đưa ra những chứng cứ dưới nhiều hình thức khác nhau, nhưng khi tổng hợp lại, những chứng cứ này phải đủ
để viên chức phỏng vấn đánh giá được hoàn cảnh chung của đương đơn và tin rằng những mối ràng buộc về xã hội,
gia đình, kinh tế và các ràng buộc khác của đương đơn tại Việt Nam là lý do buộc đương đơn phải rời khỏi Mỹ sau
khi kết thúc thời gian lưu trú tạm thời. Đương đơn nên chuẩn bị để trình bày trường hợp của mình thật rõ ràng và
ngắn gọn. Đương đơn có thể yêu cầu buổi phỏng vấn được thực hiện bằng tiếng Việt hoặc tiếng Anh.
9. Tại sao cuộc phỏng của tôi quá ngắn? Viên chức chỉ hỏi tôi một vài câu hỏi và hầu như không xem
đến các giấy tờ của tôi.
Trong một ngày làm việc điển hình, một viên chức Lãnh sự có thể phải phỏng vấn 80 đương đơn hoặc nhiều hơn, do
đó mỗi đương đơn chỉ có thể được phỏng vấn trong một vài phút. Tuy nhiên, mẫu đơn xin thị thực của đương đơn,
nếu được điền đầy đủ, đã bao gồm hầu hết các thông tin cần thiết để xét cấp thị thực. Viên chức Lãnh sự chỉ xem
xét các giấy tờ bổ sung khi cần làm sáng tỏ hơn nữa hoàn cảnh của đương đơn.
10. Tôi có thể ở Mỹ được bao lâu đối với loại thị thực công tác hoặc du lịch (B1/B2)?
Thị thực được xem như giấy phép nhập cảnh vào Mỹ. Có sự khác nhau giữa hiệu lực của thị thực (tối đa là một năm
đối với các đương đơn quốc tịch Việt Nam) và thời hạn được phép lưu trú tại Hoa Kỳ (có thể trong một vài ngày).
Ngày hết hạn của thị thực là ngày mà đương đơn phải nhập cảnh vào Mỹ. Viên chức Bộ An Ninh Nội Địa Mỹ (DHS)
tại cửa khẩu nhập cảnh, không phải viên chức Lãnh sự, sẽ quyết định thời gian đương đơn được phép lưu trú tại Hoa
Kỳ. Bộ An Ninh Nội Địa Mỹ thường cho phép đương đơn ở lại Mỹ trong thời gian cần thiết để hoàn thành mục đích
của chuyến đi.
Nếu đương đơn muốn gia hạn thời gian lưu trú tại Mỹ, đương đơn phải gửi đơn xin gia hạn đến văn phòng Sở Di Trú
Hoa Kỳ (USCIS). Các hình phạt sẽ được áp dụng đối với đương đơn nào ở lại Mỹ quá thời hạn cho phép. Việc “ở quá
hạn” thậm chí chỉ trong một ngày cũng có thể gây ảnh hưởng rất xấu đến cơ hội được cấp thị thực trong tương lai.
11. Với thị thực công tác hoặc du lịch, tôi có thể làm gì ở Mỹ?
Thị thực du lịch là thị thực được cấp cho các đương đơn lưu trú tạm thời ở Mỹ với mục đích công tác hoặc du lịch.
“Công tác” nói chung không bao gồm các công việc sinh lợi nhuận, nhưng bao gồm hầu hết các hoạt động thương
mại hợp pháp khác. Một đương đơn được cấp thị thực công tác có thể đến Mỹ để trao đổi với các hiệp hội thương
mại, thương lượng ký kết hợp đồng, mua hàng hóa hay nguyên vật liệu, giải quyết vấn đề tài sản, làm nhân chứng
trong một phiên tòa, tham dự các hội nghị chuyên ngành hoặc hội thảo, hay thực hiện các cuộc nghiên cứu độc lập.
“Du lịch" bao gồm các hình thức tham quan, thăm bạn bè, thân nhân, chữa bệnh, tham dự các hội nghị, hội thảo,
hoặc các hội kín hay các tổ chức xã hội, tham gia các buổi biểu diễn nghiệp dư không nhận thù lao ở các lĩnh vực âm
nhạc, thể thao, và tham dự các sự kiện hay cuộc thi tương tự khác.
Tại cuộc phỏng vấn xin thị thực, đương đơn phải có khả năng giải thích thật rõ ràng lý do muốn đến Mỹ. Viên chức
phỏng vấn sẽ dựa vào đó quyết định loại thị thực thích hợp cho mỗi đương đơn.
12. Tôi là công dân Việt Nam. Tôi có thể nộp đơn xin cấp thị thực không di dân tại Đại Sứ Quán/Lãnh
Sự Quán Mỹ ở nước khác được không?
Có thể. Tuy nhiên, chúng tôi không khuyến khích đương đơn xin cấp thị thực không di dân vào Mỹ tại một nước thứ
ba như Thái Lan, Malaysia, v.v… bởi vì rất khó khăn cho các viên chức Lãnh sự ở những quốc gia này đánh giá được

báo cho đương đơn nên nộp đơn tại quốc gia mà đương đơn đang cư trú.
13. Tôi kết hôn với một công dân Mỹ. Tôi có thể nộp đơn xin cấp thị thực du lịch đến Mỹ để thăm
chồng/vợ tôi tại Lãnh sự quán Mỹ hay không?
Có thể. Tuy nhiên, sẽ rất khó khăn cho các đương đơn chứng minh cho viên chức phỏng vấn tin rằng đương đơn chỉ
có ý định đến Mỹ trong thời gian ngắn, đây cũng chính là điều kiện cần để được cấp thị thực du lịch. Các viên chức
thuộc Bộ Ngoại Giao Mỹ khi xem xét các đơn xin cấp thị thực không di dân phải tuân theo tinh thần của điều luật và
luôn cho rằng tất các đương đơn đều có ý định nhập cư vào Mỹ cho đến khi các đương đơn chứng minh được điều
ngược lại. Nếu đương đơn nào bày tỏ ý định sẽ định cư trong tương lai gần, điều đó sẽ vô cùng khó khăn cho đương
đơn để chứng minh được rằng đương đơn sẽ không ở lại Mỹ sau khi nhận được thị thực du lịch. Hầu hết các đương
không thể trình bày được “ý định kép” (có nghĩa là “vâng, tôi sẽ đi định cư, nhưng chưa phải tại thời điểm này), một
lý do khiến đương đơn rất khó hội đủ điều kiện để được cấp thị thực du lịch.
14. Đơn xin cấp thị thực của tôi bị từ chối. Tôi phải làm gì để xin cứu xét cho trường hợp bị từ chối cấp
thị thực?
Theo các chuẩn mực toàn cầu, bất kỳ đơn xin cấp thị thực không di dân nào, một khi đã bị từ chối theo Điều khoản
214(b), sẽ không được xem xét hoặc cứu xét lại cho đến khi đương đơn đó xin tái phỏng vấn. Qui trình đúng cho
việc xin cứu xét trường hợp thị thực bị từ chối là đương đơn phải xin tái phỏng vấn để một viên chức Lãnh sự khác
xem xét lại đơn xin cấp thị thực của mình. Đương đơn phải đóng lại lệ phí xin cấp thị thực và đăng ký ngày hẹn
phỏng vấn mới. Xin lưu ý rằng chúng tôi luôn khuyến cáo các đương đơn đã hơn một lần bị từ chối gần đây KHÔNG
nên nộp đơn tái phỏng vấn trừ phi hoàn cảnh của đương đơn có sự thay đổi đáng kể, nếu không, kết quả cũng sẽ
không thay đổi.
15. Hộ chiếu của tôi đã hết hạn, tuy nhiên thị thực được phép ra vào nước Mỹ nhiều lần vẫn còn giá trị
và tôi đã có hộ chiếu mới. Vậy tôi có phải xin lại thị thực mới hay không?
Đương đơn không cần xin lại thị thực khác mà có thể mang theo hộ chiếu cũ và hộ chiếu mới để đến Mỹ.
16. Tôi có thể mua vé máy bay trước khi thị thực được cấp?
Đương đơn không nên mua vé máy bay trước khi được cấp thị thực. Vui lòng không sắp xếp bất kỳ kế hoạch bắt
buộc nào cho đến khi nhận được thị thực.
