Introduction to
AyurvedaAyurveda is originated in India. And we can
also say that it is the oldest medical system in
the world and is about 5000 years old.
Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita were
the two foundational texts of Ayurveda.
Ayurveda is a comprehensive medicine for
our entire body. It helps to protect our
complete body and it has the power to
manage physically, mentally and emotionally.
Tridosha
Theory
Ayurveda principles based on mainly 3
doshas that are, Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
These above 3 body types are seen in
human based on Ayurveda.
Vata (elements are
space and air.)All movements of our body are controlled by
Vata and it provides the functions such as, all
eliminations (fetus, semen, feces, urine, and
sweat etc...), it controls the respirations,
heartbeat, motivation and relaxation of
muscles etc... , controls various kinds of body
movements, It passes the messages or
responses from various sense organs in our
body.
Pitta (elements are
fire and water)All body metabolism activities are controlled
by Pitta, such as digestion of foods and
transformations of materials in our body, the
body temperature are maintained, it helps for
our vision that it converts images to optic
nerve impulses, the feelings like hunger
thirsty etc are because of Pitta. It provides
colour and softness for our skin. Perception,
courage, braveness are provided by Pitta.
Kapha
(elements are water
and earth)It provides the structure of the body and
lubrications that the body needs. It
provides the strength for our body to resist
and to do specific tasks. It helps to gain
the stability needed for our mind and body.
Kapha is the very important and least one
from the 3 doshas.
