The researcher Armando Rungi works at the Laboratory for the Analysis of Complex Economic Systems (AXES) which takes a multidisciplinary approach to topics like industrial organization, international economics, and corporate finance. 2. The Laboratory for the Analysis of Complex Economic Systems (AXES) is a
research unit whose work spans different fields of economics with a
multidisciplinary approach o incorporate skills and tools from different
disciplines. Within AXES, the researcher works on topics of industrial
organization, international economics, and corporate finance. The
researcher has already been a consultant for private firms. Here below
some of the research topics with important applications:
- Tools for internationalization of firms (foreign investments,
export/import): search for business partners abroad; business
intelligence to reduce costs and risks from engaging in foreign markets;
competitiveness trends in domestic and foreign markets at a fine-grained
level, to forecast the positioning of the company against its competitors.
- Forecasts of risk of failures and credit scoring based on the most
advanced models of machine learning.
- Positioning on domestic and international value chains, understanding
what is the value content of an production task, and the better
organizational choice along the supply chain.
- Competitiveness of productive systems
- Studies on the impact of European structural funds on the
competitiveness of firms in an industry or a region.

4. Data on financial accounts of about 2 million firms in Italy and Europe, and partial elaboration on financial
accounts of companies in USA, China, Russia and Latin America. Intellectual Property Rights on about half a
million firms around the world updated in 2018. Analyses on investment operations by about 200,000 multinational
enterprises updated in 2019.
Statistical and predictive analyses based on most recent tools from econometrics and machine learning with
different software (Stata, Python, R, Matlab).
