Age: 35-45 Gender: male Lifestyle: They will still be working full
time unless they are unable to work due to medical injuries or
disabilities making it impossible for them to work, they won’t
have that much free time, only have free time normally at
weekends. They might have some money to spend on going to
the cinema as they have most likely been working for the last 20
years. They will likely be in the C, B and a sections of the NRS
scale, this depending on what job they do and how good their job
is. According to BFI people aged 35-44 made up 22% of the people who watch the force
awakens at the cinema. And also 37% of the force Awakens audience being people from AB
social classes according to BFI. Probably interested in the filmbecause they grew up with
the film and want to learn more about the story and the trailers nostalgic nature probably
makes them want to watch the film as the original characters are in the filmand that will
excite them. And according to the 4C’s they are likely to be in the Resigned group because
they are older people who enjoy traditional lives and they prefer the known to the unknown
so therefore they will like the film as it will have familiar characters such as Luke and Han.
They will possibly use the film as a diversion from their real life
problems that they are facing and by watching the film they will be
able to escape these issues for a certain amount of time. They will
also likely have relationships with characters like Han, Chewy and
Luke as they will likely have watched the films when they were
younger and therefore will have fond memories of these characters
and this could make them more inclined to watch the film and they
probably imagined themselves as these characters when they
Audience profiling
watched the original films. And personal identity would be them seeing characteristics in
these characters that they also have and seeing parts of themselves in these characters. And
Surveying is like finding out about the plot of the film from news and media and I think that
people that are 35+ are less likely to spoil the movie for themselves as they will have waited
a long time for a new star wars movie to come out and by finding out about the film online
they are ruining it for themselves.
And according to the 4C’s they are likely to be in the Resigned group because they are older
people who enjoy traditional lives and they prefer the known to the unknown so therefore
they will like the film as it will have familiar characters such as Luke and Han.
Age: 35-45 Gender: Female Lifestyle: similar to the male equivalent they probably work full
time and don’t have much time off depending on what job they have and most likely only
have the weekend off work meaning they don’t have that much time to watch TV, go to the
cinema and other social things. They probably have a decent amount of money to spend as
like the male they have probably been working for a long time and probably have an
established job. They again could be in the A, B or C category on the NRS scale as again the
mainstream nature of star wars makes it appealing to people of all classed, but as the
statistics above show that 37% of People who saw the film where of a AB class this means
they are more likely to be in either the A or B section than the C section as people from the
A and B sections have more disposable income than other people. Similarly to the Male fan
their age they probably want to watch the film as they grew up with it and characters such
as Leia would appeal from the original films as she is a strong dominant and in knowing that
the new filmhas these characters probably interests them and makes them want to watch
the film.
A female who is 35+ is likely to again use the film as a diversion from normal life problems
and can use the duration of the film to immerse themselves into the film and forget about
these problems. They will probably have personal relationships with characters such as Leia
and other female characters in the saga as they can relate to them and probably are
attached to them as it’s likely they saw them in the original films and therefore they are
excited to watch them again as they have a connection to these characters. Again they can
use personal identity as a way of comparing themselves to these characters to themselves
and they can see traits in the characters that they share with them. And they like males of
their age can survey by finding out about the film through online sources and things like the
news but I don’t think they would be inclined to do this as they wouldn’t want to spoil the
film for themselves and therefore will just wait to watch the film and wont ruin it for
themselves by finding out about it.
Secondary audience
Audience profiling
Age: Teenager Gender: Male Lifestyle: They probably spend most
of their time at school and in the evenings they watch TV and
hang out with friends and at weekends they can visit the cinema
so by targeting the younger audience they can make a lot of
money as a lot of children have the weekends off and therefore
can go to the cinema at the weekend. They probably have little
spending power as the majority of them won’t have jobs and they
probably get money from their parents for doing chores which
they could spend at the cinema. They are probably in the E or C section as a lot of them will
be unemployed and if they are employed they are probably of a low skill level. They are
probably attracted to the film as the trailer is full of action and explosions that will entertain
the newer and younger fans and new characters such as Rey and Finn would appeal to them
as they can follow their story from the beginning and don’t have to have watched the
originals to know about them or their older brothers/sisters or parents might have
introduced them to the films and got them interested in the films.
Teenagers are likely to use the filmas a form of entertainment and maybe to use is as a
diversion from school life and doing homework. And they might not have any established
personal relationships with the characters as they might not have seen the original films and
therefore they won’t have a connection with characters such as Han, Luke and the other
classic characters, because of this it could be easier for them to start to make connection
with the new characters such as Rey and Finn over characters like Han and Luke as they can
relate to them more because they are younger characters that are more appealing to them
because of they are naïve and hot headed whereas the majority of the older characters are
quite wise and don’t make rash decisions like the younger characters. Therefore they could
not be as interesting to newer audiences as the younger new characters. Again they can use
the characters of Rey and Finn to find their personal identity as they could be able to see
themselves in these characters as they are similar in age and appearance. And I believe that
they are more likely to survey and find out information about the filmthan older fans as
they use things lie social media and the internet more than older people generally and are
more likely to find things about the film accidently, and also they might just find out about
the plot on purpose as because they might not have seen the originals the film won’t mean
as much to them and could just find out about the film because of that.
They are likely to be in the Explorer group of the 4C’s as they are generally people who look
for new challenges and experiences and therefore they are in this group as it is likely they
haven’t seen the original films so seeing this filmwill be a new experience for them.
Audience profiling
Age: Teenager: Gender: Female Lifestyle: Again similarly to the
Male teenager they probably spend most of their time at school
and in their free time they probably watch TV and hang out with
friends and only really have time to go to the cinema in holidays
at the weekend and in holidays and by releasing the film close
to Christmas the film will have a bigger audience than if it was
released in September as the younger audience would be free
of school and have 2 weeks to watch the film. Again probably
have little spending power as they most likely don’t work and if
they do its part time so they will have a little amount of money to spend and would
probably be in the C or E section of the NRS scale. Another positive of releasing the film in
the Christmas holidays is that parents might take children to watch the film for Christmas.
Again probably interested through parents, the conventions of the trailer or the
merchandise they see in shops.
A female teenager is again like their male counterpart likely to use the film as a form of
entertainment and they are likely to use it as a diversion from the real world and worries of
school life. And they again might have personal relationships with characters like Rey and
Finn as they can relate to them and they are similar to them in many aspects such as the
way they behave and their general age, whereas older characters such as Han, Leia and Luke
are less likely to be appealing to them as they won’t have grown up with them like the older
audience would’ve and therefore won’t have a connection to them, and females can use
Rey as a role model and someone to look up to and if could influence the actions that
woman make and give them confidence to try and get major parts in films over males as Rey
(Daisy Ridley) has shown audiences and actors that is possible to be female and get a major
part in a big film even if they aren’t male. And they can find themselves in Rey as they could
identify things are characteristics that they share with characters such as Rey. And they
could survey by finding out information about the filmfrom online sources and therefore
find out about the plot and what happens in the film, and I think they are more inclined to
do this than adults are they use technology and social media more so it is more likely they
will either find it on purpose or by accident and they might just find out about the plot as
they might not care about the filmas much as their parents do as they wouldn’t have grown
up seeing the movies and might not have seen the originals so they therefore have little
care for the film.
They are likely to be in the Explorer group of the 4C’s as they are generally people who look
for new challenges and experiences and therefore they are in this group as it is likely they
haven’t seen the original films so seeing this filmwill be a new experience for them.

Audience profiling Primary audience The 4C’s were createdby Youngand Rubicamand standsforCross Cultural Consumer Characterisationwhichdividespeople into7groupsbeing: -The Explorer -The Aspirer -The Succeeder -The Reformer -The Mainstream -The Struggler -The Resigned Age: 35-45 Gender: male Lifestyle: They will still be working full time unless they are unable to work due to medical injuries or disabilities making it impossible for them to work, they won’t have that much free time, only have free time normally at weekends. They might have some money to spend on going to the cinema as they have most likely been working for the last 20 years. They will likely be in the C, B and a sections of the NRS scale, this depending on what job they do and how good their job is. According to BFI people aged 35-44 made up 22% of the people who watch the force awakens at the cinema. And also 37% of the force Awakens audience being people from AB social classes according to BFI. Probably interested in the filmbecause they grew up with the film and want to learn more about the story and the trailers nostalgic nature probably makes them want to watch the film as the original characters are in the filmand that will excite them. And according to the 4C’s they are likely to be in the Resigned group because they are older people who enjoy traditional lives and they prefer the known to the unknown so therefore they will like the film as it will have familiar characters such as Luke and Han. They will possibly use the film as a diversion from their real life problems that they are facing and by watching the film they will be able to escape these issues for a certain amount of time. They will also likely have relationships with characters like Han, Chewy and Luke as they will likely have watched the films when they were younger and therefore will have fond memories of these characters and this could make them more inclined to watch the film and they probably imagined themselves as these characters when they
  • 2. Audience profiling watched the original films. And personal identity would be them seeing characteristics in these characters that they also have and seeing parts of themselves in these characters. And Surveying is like finding out about the plot of the film from news and media and I think that people that are 35+ are less likely to spoil the movie for themselves as they will have waited a long time for a new star wars movie to come out and by finding out about the film online they are ruining it for themselves. And according to the 4C’s they are likely to be in the Resigned group because they are older people who enjoy traditional lives and they prefer the known to the unknown so therefore they will like the film as it will have familiar characters such as Luke and Han. Age: 35-45 Gender: Female Lifestyle: similar to the male equivalent they probably work full time and don’t have much time off depending on what job they have and most likely only have the weekend off work meaning they don’t have that much time to watch TV, go to the cinema and other social things. They probably have a decent amount of money to spend as like the male they have probably been working for a long time and probably have an established job. They again could be in the A, B or C category on the NRS scale as again the mainstream nature of star wars makes it appealing to people of all classed, but as the statistics above show that 37% of People who saw the film where of a AB class this means they are more likely to be in either the A or B section than the C section as people from the A and B sections have more disposable income than other people. Similarly to the Male fan their age they probably want to watch the film as they grew up with it and characters such as Leia would appeal from the original films as she is a strong dominant and in knowing that the new filmhas these characters probably interests them and makes them want to watch the film. A female who is 35+ is likely to again use the film as a diversion from normal life problems and can use the duration of the film to immerse themselves into the film and forget about these problems. They will probably have personal relationships with characters such as Leia and other female characters in the saga as they can relate to them and probably are attached to them as it’s likely they saw them in the original films and therefore they are excited to watch them again as they have a connection to these characters. Again they can use personal identity as a way of comparing themselves to these characters to themselves and they can see traits in the characters that they share with them. And they like males of their age can survey by finding out about the film through online sources and things like the news but I don’t think they would be inclined to do this as they wouldn’t want to spoil the film for themselves and therefore will just wait to watch the film and wont ruin it for themselves by finding out about it. Secondary audience
  • 3. Audience profiling Age: Teenager Gender: Male Lifestyle: They probably spend most of their time at school and in the evenings they watch TV and hang out with friends and at weekends they can visit the cinema so by targeting the younger audience they can make a lot of money as a lot of children have the weekends off and therefore can go to the cinema at the weekend. They probably have little spending power as the majority of them won’t have jobs and they probably get money from their parents for doing chores which they could spend at the cinema. They are probably in the E or C section as a lot of them will be unemployed and if they are employed they are probably of a low skill level. They are probably attracted to the film as the trailer is full of action and explosions that will entertain the newer and younger fans and new characters such as Rey and Finn would appeal to them as they can follow their story from the beginning and don’t have to have watched the originals to know about them or their older brothers/sisters or parents might have introduced them to the films and got them interested in the films. Teenagers are likely to use the filmas a form of entertainment and maybe to use is as a diversion from school life and doing homework. And they might not have any established personal relationships with the characters as they might not have seen the original films and therefore they won’t have a connection with characters such as Han, Luke and the other classic characters, because of this it could be easier for them to start to make connection with the new characters such as Rey and Finn over characters like Han and Luke as they can relate to them more because they are younger characters that are more appealing to them because of they are naïve and hot headed whereas the majority of the older characters are quite wise and don’t make rash decisions like the younger characters. Therefore they could not be as interesting to newer audiences as the younger new characters. Again they can use the characters of Rey and Finn to find their personal identity as they could be able to see themselves in these characters as they are similar in age and appearance. And I believe that they are more likely to survey and find out information about the filmthan older fans as they use things lie social media and the internet more than older people generally and are more likely to find things about the film accidently, and also they might just find out about the plot on purpose as because they might not have seen the originals the film won’t mean as much to them and could just find out about the film because of that. They are likely to be in the Explorer group of the 4C’s as they are generally people who look for new challenges and experiences and therefore they are in this group as it is likely they haven’t seen the original films so seeing this filmwill be a new experience for them.
  • 4. Audience profiling Age: Teenager: Gender: Female Lifestyle: Again similarly to the Male teenager they probably spend most of their time at school and in their free time they probably watch TV and hang out with friends and only really have time to go to the cinema in holidays at the weekend and in holidays and by releasing the film close to Christmas the film will have a bigger audience than if it was released in September as the younger audience would be free of school and have 2 weeks to watch the film. Again probably have little spending power as they most likely don’t work and if they do its part time so they will have a little amount of money to spend and would probably be in the C or E section of the NRS scale. Another positive of releasing the film in the Christmas holidays is that parents might take children to watch the film for Christmas. Again probably interested through parents, the conventions of the trailer or the merchandise they see in shops. A female teenager is again like their male counterpart likely to use the film as a form of entertainment and they are likely to use it as a diversion from the real world and worries of school life. And they again might have personal relationships with characters like Rey and Finn as they can relate to them and they are similar to them in many aspects such as the way they behave and their general age, whereas older characters such as Han, Leia and Luke are less likely to be appealing to them as they won’t have grown up with them like the older audience would’ve and therefore won’t have a connection to them, and females can use Rey as a role model and someone to look up to and if could influence the actions that woman make and give them confidence to try and get major parts in films over males as Rey (Daisy Ridley) has shown audiences and actors that is possible to be female and get a major part in a big film even if they aren’t male. And they can find themselves in Rey as they could identify things are characteristics that they share with characters such as Rey. And they could survey by finding out information about the filmfrom online sources and therefore find out about the plot and what happens in the film, and I think they are more inclined to do this than adults are they use technology and social media more so it is more likely they will either find it on purpose or by accident and they might just find out about the plot as they might not care about the filmas much as their parents do as they wouldn’t have grown up seeing the movies and might not have seen the originals so they therefore have little care for the film. They are likely to be in the Explorer group of the 4C’s as they are generally people who look for new challenges and experiences and therefore they are in this group as it is likely they haven’t seen the original films so seeing this filmwill be a new experience for them.
