Automated deployment of software to test environments is increasingly important for organizations to quickly test and fix bugs. Tools like Atlassian Bamboo allow for continuous integration and automated deployment but require updating configuration management databases (CMDBs) like HP OpenView to track changes. Test Environment Management (TEM) personnel currently spend significant time manually tracking environment configurations, costing organizations approximately $48,000 annually. Products like TEBS address this by automatically capturing updates from tools like Bamboo to provide a single source of truth for test environment configurations and builds.

Test Data Management: A Healthcare Industry Case StudyTechWell
As IT systems increase in both scale and complexity, delivering quality applications becomes more challenging. In addition to creating and executing test scenarios, testers need to create and maintain the test data that enables test execution. Test data management (TDM) creates and processes data in test environments using business knowledge and technology. Test data is created based on requirements provided from consumers. With TDM in your software delivery process, teams dependent on data can focus on creating and executing test scenarios instead of having to provision the data to run these tests. Shaheer Mohammed and Jatinder Singh present a case study that recaps the successful creation of a TDM team. They review what worked well, share lessons learned along the way, touch on the challenges of managing protected data in the health-care industry, and discuss innovative tools and processes that enabled their success.

Allstate Insurance had a problem. While thoroughly testing each of their more than thirty business systems, they were still failing to provide good service to their clients, agents, and internal customers. The reason was simple. Implementing end-to-end business processes requires more than just running data through a set of separate systems. While focusing on automating unit, integration, and system testing, they had failed to consider the need for system-to-system integration tests―tests that would verify that their business systems passed data correctly, met interface expectations, and synchronized properly. Monika Mehrotra and Sandra Alequin describe how Allstate, with the assistance of Infosys, supplemented their existing test suites with a set of end-to-end tests that provided deeper test coverage, demonstrating proper system operation from beginning to end. In addition, Allstate implemented a test environment that more closely resembled their production environment, discovering defects that had previously escaped into daily operation. Learn the importance of end-to-end, not just piecemeal testing.

Appliance Warehouse Service Plan.
The discussion focuses on the appliance Warehouse Service Plan that is made up of the testing plan, an implementation plan and the training plan for the sake of the bettering of services in a warehouse. The testing plan is meant to manage the systems through QA standards meeting the needs of the customers. The implementation plan elaborates and indicates whether one should use parallel, direct, phased, or pilot changeover strategies. The training plan, on the other hand, indicates what a training plan would include for affected employees, such as appointment setters, technicians, management, and the parts department.
Testing Plan
The main reason for the testing plan is to validate and verify the information from the main source or the end to end target warehouse. The two major testing plans for include program testing and acceptance testing (Lewis, 2017). The plan should verify the following, the business required documents, ETL design for the documents, sources to target on the mapping process and the data model for the source and the target schemas. The documents that are considered are meant for the ETL development process in the testing plan. The testing plan is meant further for the supervisors or the quality analysis team to confirm that the work is concerning the objective of the organization. The process of testing might also include the configuration management system and the data quality validation and verification process.
Implementation Plan
The plan for the implementation of the systems is the same as the process that is considered during the development process of the entire system to meet the goals of the organization. The steps to consider for the whole plan of the implementation include the analysis and the enhancement requests, the writing of very simplified and new programs, restructuring of the database, analysis of the program library and its cost, and the reengineering of the test program. The first phase parallels the analysis phase as the parallel strategy is considered for the entire process, which entails the analysis phase of the SDLC. The steps two to four process entails the combining and the construction activities that are done on a new system majorly on a small scale. The last step is meant to parallel the testing that is commonly done during the implementation process. The testing process ensures that the process is free of risk as a quality assurance process (Liang & Hui, 2016).
Training Plan
The training plan should be made up of a training matrix in which it will guide them to know who needs the training what they need from the training and why they want the training not forgetting when they need the training(Kwak,2016). The matrix will allow for the planning and the preparation for the training avoiding scrambling when the due date for the training comes around. The requirements are automatically updated when the employees get done with the first training before transferri ...

Webinar: Deploying the Combined Virtual and Physical InfrastructurePepperweed Consulting
Delivering complex business services in your organization demands a rigid approach to server deployment and management. Modern data centers often have distributed virtual and physical servers as well as management teams which make the challenge even more difficult. Increasing headcount in your group is typically not an acceptable answer so how do you manage the growing complexity? The answer lies in a complete physical and virtual server life cycle management solution which provides the automation of application deployments.
In Part IV of its five-part webinar series "Managing IT Operations in a Virtualized World", Pepperweed Consulting will discuss how a combination of HP Server Automation and HP Operations Orchestration can streamline the deployment of your operating systems, software and patches for both your physical and virtual infrastructure. The evolution of cloud technology has helped many laboratories to increase their productivity and reliability by digitalising and automating their operations. Digitalising here means easily migrating their data saved in the form of old paper notebooks and spreadsheets to computerized storage and management systems.
All too often the discussion is focused on definitions and theory of cloud computing. Here are a few examples to bring cloud to life by companies who have taken an early plunge, at scale, and links to relevant resources.
2. Automated/rapid software deployment to test, development, pre-
production and production software test environments is now more than
ever an increased requirement in most corporate organisations across
all sectors.
Due to the increased number of software projects active at any one
time across most corporate organisations, the requirement to test/fix
software bugs/defects that are discovered in live or production systems
is now more than ever in very high demand? The need to deploy from
software repositories accurate/correct versions of software code,
efficiently, rapidly and in an automated manner is not only cost effective
but ensures accuracy in the actual software deployment or code
version upgrade process. Tools such as atlassian bamboo, thought
work etc for continuous integration and software deployment certainly
provide for all the above.
Integrating or also automating the process of updating the relevant
CMDB (change management database such as HP Open View etc) or
similar tools to capture any software or version update changes
particularly across test, development, and pre-production environments
that undergo these changes very frequently is certainly desirable and
ensures, efficiency and capturing up to date historical/log information
on changes to these environments. Trouble shooting, tracking and
fixing software bugs becomes easier and less expensive. According to
Gartner the current cost of fixing software bugs/defect can be as much
as $17,000.00 per defect. Source: http://www.cognizant.com/InsightsWhitepapers/The-
Business-Case-for-Test-Environment-Management-Services.pdf
3. Some costs associated with test environment
management (tem).
On average, a tem support personnel could spend about 15 to 20
hours a week (depending on the actual number of active projects and
number of environments in use) on capturing, tracking and updating
build information on environments in a spreadsheet etc, which is 80
hours a month and 960 hours a year. On estimate 960 hours @
$50.00 (conservative cost of tem personnel per hour) = $48,000.00
spent only on tracking and updating build information on
environments.
Other Stats
Up to 28% of the overall IT budget of an organisation based on studies put together by
Capgemini and HP (2013) is spent on maintaining permanent Test or Development

Subscribing to tebs or purchasing the life time license with free

on tracking what test environment is at which build level,
tracking down problems/issues from historical/log information, a
serious source for concern in most corporate organisations.

tebs serves a single source of truth on test, development and
all pre-production environments.
Accurate and instant information on build versions etc on all environments
is captured in real time from the automated deployment process, no more
confusion, no more guessing, instils confidence that you are testing your
application on the correct code level which is one of the main reasons
for so many software defects.
Other features such as calendar view of environment bookings,
data conversion, data encryption and desensitisation tool - converts
up to 10,000 data records (to be used for testing) in an excel spread sheet
in less than 90 seconds. Data to be used for development and testing,
as due to data privacy/protection acts, it is illegal to test sensitive data like
customers real details for certain applications especially across the
financial services sector.
tebs as a CMDB (Change Management Database), also serves as
repository of all information on a Test Environment/Virtual Host Server,
Desktop Computers, Laptops, Hand Held Devices etc to include
Host Server Names, Hardware Type, Operating System, and
IP Address and Interfaces, Application Details etc.
5. Other Features
